BBC: Occupy London protest camp eviction under way

lotek repost | 28.02.2012 00:30

Now on BBC, breaking news.

'Police have moved in to remove protesters from the Occupy London site at St Paul's Cathedral.

Occupy London was last week refused permission to appeal against a High Court decision to allow eviction.

Occupy London, which campaigns against corporate greed, set up the camp on 15 October.'

Possible legal angle

Does an eviction order give the bailiffs the legal right to physically steal people's tents and other possessions?!

Non-violence

In the last two decades, we have worked on some of the toughest enforcement assignments to have hit the civil courts. From removing protestors from the top of power station chimneys, to digging eco-warriors out of makeshift tunnels, there is no assignment too tough or too risky.

Let's see if the Met can pull this one off without feeling the need to actually kill someone

Stone damage

28.02.2012 09:15

Just reported on LBC (London radio station) that stonemasons who have inspected the St Paul's building this morning estimate $300,000 worth of damage that will take a year to put right. Some of the deep carvings into the stone will never be able to be repaired. In addition the repeated urine streams over some wood has eaten away the 18th Century carvings and they are lost for ever.

What a tool.

I do not know what is more sad - the comments you made or the fact that you do not understand why others are annoyed by this.

And protesters wonder why people don't give a shit about them.

For starters, at least 6 Million Daily Mail readers (1/10 of the population of the UK including children), will now be happy to hate the occupy movement, and will probably not bat an eyelid when the police use rubber bullets on protesters.

This is almost the equivilent damage to your movement as it was to the US for being caught burning the Koran.

Middle-England is way, way, way bigger than your occupy movement. They are also the ones who vote and more importantly pay the taxes. Guess who the government is going to side with and ensure who is kept happy?
