Hare Coursing fans caught REDHANDED attempting to rig opinion poll!

Massive vote rigging opereration uncovered in online poll on hare coursing

Anti hare coursing campaign wronged by attempted vote rigging in online poll
Anti hare coursing campaign wronged by attempted vote rigging in online poll

An opinion poll on hare coursing hosted by the online Irish newspaper Journal.ie has been seriously abused by hare coursing fans.

The poll, which asks whether hare coursing should be banned, has been running for the past few days on Journal.ie. Up to at least midday on Sunday March 18th the “YES” vote” (favouring a ban on coursing) was substantially ahead of the “NO” vote. Then, by Sunday evening the “NO” vote abruptly leaped ahead of the “YES” vote.

Opponents of hare coursing aware of the poll were resigning ourselves to what seemed like a sudden though to us quite baffling surge of support for the pro-hare coursing side.

That was until we learned that an orchestrated and blatant attempt was underway on the part of hare coursing fans to rig the poll. The “Greyhound Nuts” site, which regards itself as the voice of Ireland’s hare coursing fraternity, carried advice on Sunday from its administrator, Mr Tom Brett, on how to cheat with a view to rigging the poll result.

We reproduce the relevant page from the site below as proof. You will see that other coursing fans openly boast of having cheated and of finding ways to vote repeatedly...a practise Journal.ie officially does not allow. Clear instructions are given by Mr Brett on how to facilitate cheating.

We should mention that the “Greyhound Nuts” site is not open to the public. Its posts can only be read by registered members, but a sympathetic person who is a coursing club member who was unahappy with the poll rigging episode has sent us a number of pages from the site referring to the Journal.ie poll. Otherwise we would not now be aware of this breathtaking act of deceit.

We have called upon Journal.ie to remove the poll and declare the results null and void on the basis of this clear evidence of widespread cheating and poll rigging.

Every professional opinion poll conducted since 1978 on attitudes to hare coursing In Ireland has shown that a substantial majority of Irish people favours its abolition. The attempt to rig an opinion poll to create a false impression of support for hare coursing is evidence we believe that the pro-bloodsports lobby is anxious to boost its public image ahead of the upcoming Private Members Bill sponsored by Deputies Maureen O’ Sullivan and Clare Daly that seeks a ban on this barbaric activity. Thanking you, Pat Walsh.

Here is the relevant page from the “Greyhound Nuts” site that proves coursing fans sought to rig the result of the opinion poll:

Unbelieveable that the UK's top dog trainers are such an honourable group, far more honourable than the Queens horse trainers.............
