Poor article

You don't even say where he claims to come from or the basis in which his "asylum" claim was rejected.

Nobody gives a flying fuck

Rahim.

"You don't even say where he claims to come from or the basis in which his "asylum" claim was rejected."

He's very obviously Iranian. A Christian Iranian. Rahim is a very common name in Iran.

Don't really know how this guy is facing anything untoward in Iran if he goes back because he's a Christian. Its no big deal to be a Christian in Iran.

But if anybody is in Islington and happens by this guy then please give him some cash to help him get through. He looks like he's not in a good position.

Onwards and upwards...as they say.

give a flying fuck

Agreed that the article should have more information and puts more questions than it answers but if someone had decided to starve themselves to death to attract attention to their case they probably have good reason not to want to be deported. Regardless of where he is from or what his reasons are he should not be deported based on the idea that we have more right to this land than him because we were born here.
Still would be good to have more information, e.g. what support to give, etc.

no borders

"Regardless of where he is from or what his reasons are he should not be deported based on the idea that we have more right to this land than him because we were born here."

Where he is from and his reasons for wanting to stay in the UK pretty make up the bulk of his application to stay.

Its not really a generic question of what our rights are in relation to his, its more a question of what are his rights to stay. There is a fine line between economic migration and asylum and if this man claims asylum on the basis that it isn't safe for him to return to Iran then that would form the bulk of his application to stay. Like you say, this report is information light so we have no idea upon what basis his protest is made. This makes it very difficult to work out a defence or grounds for support.

You are right to a degree when you say his nationality is unimportant. But a defence has to be based on this sort of thing so it just isn't practical to ignore it. If his nationality is unimportant, well then that equates to an empty defence.

So this man will return to Iran in due course. Your report places him at a clean and easily accessed location so it is now much easier for the authorities to lift him in preparation for his deportation.

When dealing with this sort of thing, you build your defence BEFORE illustrating the subject in the public domain! All you've really done with this report, is throw the gauntlet down and then walked away and left this poor sod on his own.

This is not a good report, nor is it a responsible thing to do.

If you want some action to get you and this man out of peril, you'de better come up with some compelling information to justify him staying...FAST!
