Surprising comment. I don't think there is anything "stupid" about doing a job that primarily is focused on protecting the public. Would you describe a firefighter as "stupid" ?

I do of course understand that Indy includes its fair share of 'All Coppers Are Bastards' opinion individuals but outside of those who froth at the mouth most people I think understand the police do a needed job in society and that we can't live without them.

Yes I am aware of peple who have been hit by the police, myself included. I do not know anybody who was killed by the police but of course I am aware of deaths in police custody.

The point is not that these events occur but the question of choosing the police as a career choice, it was described above as "stupid", I disagree with that. I think that the majority of police do a job that is centred on protecting society. Of course I welcome ideas you may have for the policing and protection of society from those individual who do not share our view of common respect for others etc.

The vast majority of the people I know do not break the law. I live in a community in which the police are considered a pointless waste of time. If there are problems, my community comes together and by careful consensus, we choose to police ourselves. We do a much better and fairer job of that than the thugs in uniform.

I feel far safer with my neighbours, than I do with the police.

As far as I am concerned, the police are to be avoided at all costs, unless you are wealthy and white.

What a wonderul community you live in by the sound of it, I bet we all wish we could like somewhere the same. I am forced through work and family commitments to live in an inner city area with I am sorry to say a lot of crime and where the police are very much needed.

What would be your suggestion for their replacement here ?

So as I understand your argument there is no need for the police because there is only crime because the police are there to stop it ?

Putting to one side the illogicality I would ask the same question I have asked everybody who has been critical of the police on this thread. What would you suggest is the alternative to a police force ?

These is no need for me to suggest alternatives to the police because alternatives are not needed.

'Crime' is an invention of the police and the power elite to install fear in the population.

Without the police nearly all 'crime' would simply cease to exist. The one or two genuine problems that would still happen would be quickly dealt within the local community by society appointed 'elders'.

Police = Crime

No Police = No Crime
