CURO Housing issues 10% of its tenants with notices seeking repossession.

A recent report from landlord The Curo Group to B&NES Council reveals “…there are no fewer than 800 families which have been issued with notices seeking repossession. Some 124 of these are in breach of a court order to pay money they owe.”
Curo has told the council that it is alarmed at a combination of above inflation rent rises driven by Government demands and the imposition of the bedroom tax.
Curo’s rent arrears are increasing and the landlord says it is bringing in stiffer affordability checks to identify people who cannot afford to pay affordable rents..
“We are finding increasing numbers of customers are struggling to pay “affordable rents”
Meanwhile Curo's £165,000 pa Chief Executive Mr Victor da Cunha continues implementing the Group policyof turning its social housing into upmarket holiday lets , for rent and sale on the private market etc., as a way of dealing with its increasing debts which now stand at £180m.
