Fuel Protestors Considering G8 Summit Action?

Report in yesterday's Transport News Network, following the short blockade / picket of Shell's Stanlow oil refinery in Cheshire. Plans for high-profile demonstrations to demand a cut in fuel prices will be discussed at a meeting in Edinburgh today (tues).

Scotsman Reports Bans Requested For G8 Protest in Derby on 17th March

The Scotsman in a PA news article has reported that police and councillors in Derbyshire have requested bans on G8 demonstrations which are planned for tomorrow - thursday 17th march - alongside G8 Environment and Development Ministers meeting. Home Secretary Charles Clarke will today consider meansures to be imposed.

At a function in Gerrmany. Goodooga, 20 July - - An Australian Aboriginal sheep farmer and rights activist, Michael Anderson, is taking on the country’s Deputy Prime Minister, John Anderson, for the NSW Outback seat of Gwydir in the coming federal election. Should he win the seat, which he’s contending for The Greens, Anderson would be only the second Aborigine in the national Australian parliament. Australian Aborigines number about 420,000 in a population of 20 million. They are the most disadvantaged Australians. Some claim that many live in worse than Third World conditions in the midst of plenty.

American Indians Protest Scottish Power - July 16 - 24th
Support native American Indians from the Karuk, Yurok, Hoopa, and Klamath Tribes as they journey to Scotland to protest Scottish Power's control of the river Klamath. These tribes from Northern California and Southern Oregon evolved with Salmon, which are now being decimated because of the series of dams blocking migration. These dams are owned by Scottish Power.
