CURO HOUSING IN COAL PIT PROCUREMENT BLUNDER

Clutton Parish Council is urging developers who want to build in the village to work with it to find suitable sites that will benefit the local community following news that Curo Housing is pulling out of a scheme to build new homes.

B&NES Council, Curo Housing & the missing secure tenancy agreements

Following investigations by the ICO B&NES Council claims it passed the paper copies of 13000 secure tenancy agreements to Curo Housing (formerly Somer Community Housing Trust) which Curo Housing denies ever having received.

On that basis the ICO states it cannot make a decision on which organisation is to blame for this loss as there is a lack of evidence to prove one way or the other ie: its the word of a senior B&NES Council Officer against the word of a senior Curo Housing manager !

World War I Centenary, 2014

15th May is Conscientious Objectors Day and this year it's 100 years since the start of WWI. Mindful of these two anniversaries, I spent this afternoon visiting my friend the great anti-war campaigner Lib Rowlands-Hughes, who was born right at the end of the First World War and is now 95 years old, and learning a little of her family's history. This includes four uncles lost in the war, a military man turned pacifist and a conscientious objector imprisoned for resisting war.

Local residents campaign against UK Coal at Great Oak

UK Coal (Coalfield Resources) want to open cast Great oak – aka Diglake Colliery. This site is where the January 1895 Flooding Disaster killed 77 men and boys and is close to the villages of Audley, Bignall End, Red Street and Crackley.

Some 72 bodies are still in the old workings over which UK Coal want to open cast mine.
