On the 23rd of Janauary 2009 a Public Interest Litigation, (PIL), petition against Nepal's monkey farming was filed against the monkey farming at the Supreme Court of Nepal. We are elated to announce that the action was not only sanctioned by the court, but it has been placed on the court's "priority list" due to the "seriousness" of the case!

Japanese Whalers Playing Dangerous Games in the Ross Sea

At 0500 Hours Sydney, Australia time on February 4th, the three harpoon vessels of the Japanese whaling fleet literally attacked the Steve Irwin.

The Yushin Maru #2 has rejoined the fleet after leaving the area on December 20th with propeller damage. All three harpoon ships moved in to flank the Steve Irwin as the Sea Shepherd ship continued to chase the factory ship Nisshin Maru.

There are plans to build a deadly "Super Virus Lab & Animal Testing facility on the Somers Town council house estate. The lab plans have been criticised by MI5, MPs, councillors & local residents. Bayer Day of Action in Sweden

For the international day of action activists targeted Bayer Cropsciences headoffice in Stockholm, Sweden. About fiftheen activists gathered in front of the main gate to the compound where Bayer is situated. Obviously, the company already knew of our plans and two security guys stood guard in front of the gate. They had to redirect some of the traffic to another lane to get them through the crowd of angry protesters and as workers drove away several gave us the thumbs up.

Bayer Day of Action in Chile

As part of the Day of Action against Bayer, we protested in front of their building. Workers and neighbor companies were informed about what Bayer is related to if they are customers of HLS, a shameful crime against innocent animals in the name of profit. As usual, people were shocked to see those terrible pictures in the placards.

The campaign to Stop The Camden Animal Lab is accepting donations sent to : Stop The Camden Animal Lab [London Against Camden Danger Lab] BM8735 London WC1N3XX. Donations will be spent on campaign materials such as leaflets, posters, letters,etc. In the event that the lab does not get planning permission we will fight the second proposed lab intended for Camden on Hampstead Rd close to Regents Park estate. To mark World Day for Animals in Laboratories, campaigners from all over the UK and beyond will be gathering in London on April 25 to call for an end to animal experiments. Following a march from Hyde Park through the centre of London, where we intend to take the anti-vivisection message to large numbers of shoppers, tourists and residents, we will then hold a rally at Parliament to protest against the government’s pro-vivisection policies.

In their press release NETCU are at pains to point out that the sentences have “nothing to do with freedom of expression” and that those jailed are “extremists”.

UK SHAC 7 Heather Nicholson Speaks Out

Heather was born vegan and has spent her whole life standing up against animal abuse. She was remanded in custody on 7th May 2007 after turning herself in after 32 separate police raids, involving 700 police officers in the UK, The Netherlands and Belgium on May 1st 2007. On 30th July 2008 she plead not guilty to 'conspiracy to blackmail' Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS). Although after a three month trial on 23rd December 2008, she was found guilty. On Wednesday 21st January 2009, she was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment, the longest sentence out of all those on trial -
