At approximately 12:10pm today (Saturday 21/06/2008) half a dozen protestors upheld the illustrious tradition of invading McDonalds and reminding them just what rotters they are to people and the planet by walking into the Rose Crescent, Cambridge branch of the megacorp.

Fast for justice in India
I want to alert folk in the UK to a couple of campaigns that are happening right now. Both relate to India and both are of particular interest in that they are using the technique of fasting as a way of drawing attention to the struggle. A possession order was granted to Tesco today in court, yet representatives of the Mill Road Social Centre had apparent confirmation of indefinite leave to remain from Tesco's solicitors.Mill Road Social Centre's days are numbered.
This morning at approximately 10:30am in room 2 of East Road Court, a judge presiding over the case of a repossession order for the premises currently occupied by the Mill Road Social Centre granted possession to Tescos, meaning that the current occupants will have to vacate the premises some time in the near future, thereby soon ending an era of community occupation of the old Wilco store premises.SHAC National March & Rally - 1 month away!

The Mill Road Social Centre is taking shape in the space of the former Wilco building. The building and the parking lot have been cleared and cleaned, and furniture brought in. A film corner, a kids' corner, a cafe area and a workshop area are being set up.
Former Wilco building squatted - to be turned into social centre
On Monday night, 19 May, the former Wilco building on Mill Road (the very site where Tesco want to open a new supermarket) was squatted. On Tuesday afternoon, acting on a 'tip off' from a neighbour, armed police entered the premised on the pretext of looking for illegal drugs. There were a total of three police cars, a police van, and at least eight officers. The premises were searched, but no illegal substances (bar a supermarket trolley that was already on site) were found.
