"Drop The Charge" Demo Pictures.

All donations gratefully accepted... Today something unprecedented happened.

Community arts event organisers found themselves having to protest against the police who up until now have turned up to cover their events for no extra charge, as it was understood it was covered by our taxes.

But now a PRIVATE company, by the name of ACPO is demanding fees from ALL organisers of ALL community events, so the police can turn up and do the very same job they've been doing FOR NO EXTRA CHARGE for years.

G20 Protest Pictures, part 1

Shocking Exclusive: Man waves Fist at Protestors!! On Wednesday of this week, in the belly of the beast, known as The City of London, normally a place purely for the generation of wealth witnessed an amazing transformation when thousands of protestors descended upon it's streets and occupied them for a brief flowering of human potential beyond the dysfunctional confines of what we laughingly know as global capitalism.

Speech of Craig Murray to Students Occupying Cambridge University Law Faculty

Despite being denied proper access to the Law Faculty building, ex-ambassador Craig Murray spoke and answered questions from the entrance for over 45 minutes. He spoke on the US war in Central Asia for control over natural gas pipelines, Lord Taylor of Blackburn and other war profiteers, and anti-Muslim propaganda in the media. Murray explicitly supported several key demands of the occupation as reasonable: that the university withdraw investment from the arms trade; that there be bursaries for Palestinian students; and that the university condemn Israel's recent actions towards Gaza.

Mill Road Tesco refused again

Refused again Tesco have LOST their first appeal (and the associated non-determination appeal) for the Mill Road site in Cambridge.

The Inspector concluded:

“I find that both of the realistically available servicing options would pose unacceptable risks to highway safety, which would not be outweighed by benefits or the fallback position. I therefore conclude that both appeals should be dismissed.”

Tesco Mill Road shop rejected again

Last night the council met to consider Tesco's planning application for their proposed Mill Road store. The meeting was packed, and while most councillors abstained, none voted for it, leaving the votes of the new Green councillor and one Lib Dem to reject the proposal on grounds including noise and traffic. Tesco proceeded to evict the Mill Road Social Centre who had squatted the site, despite saying they could stay until work could begin.

Cambridge Mill Road Social Centre evicted

On Friday morning around 9AM, police and bailiffs kicked down the door to the social centre and started evicting people from the premises. No advance warning was given. It goes to show that Tesco can never be trusted, as they reneged on their promise not to take possession of the building before they needed to start building.

Cambridge Critical Mass / LA Bike Ride

Round the roundabout On Saturday 19 July more than twenty cyclists took to the streets of Cambridge in the evening, to regale in the joy of two-wheeled transportation. From the meetup point at the underpass of the Newmarket/East Road roundabout, the group covered some ten kilometres in a little over an hour. On the way we managed to pick up some random cyclists who decided to join forces with us.
