Paxman interviews Chomsky

A short interview with Noam Chomsky, including transcript and video stream (Realplayer, low bandwidth). Jeremy Paxman, conducting the interview, is obviously trying to do what he can to hit Chomsky with the "tough questions", in notable contrast to his extremely subservient interview with Tony Blair before the war started...personally, I'd appreciate it if Mr. Paxman would secure another interview with Mr. Blair and ask some real questions this time.

Cambridge Mayday...and more!

Grafton Centre - Mayday fun for all the family! An excellent meeting took place in Cambridge yesterday to discuss the possibilities of setting some kind of new collective in the city. It was surprisingly well attended given the short notice and less than perfect advertising and it seems that quite a few of us have been wanting something like this to emerge for a while.

Dissent! Resistance Against the G8: Gathering in Manchester

A Network of Resistance Against the G8: The G8 (Group of Eight most industrialised nations) Summit is coming to Britain in the Summer of 2005. In past years, everywhere they have tried to meet they have been met with a massive response from the world's social movements. Now, in Britain, a network of groups and individuals is emerging that hopes to resist the Summit, and build a lasting movement against capitalism.

The next Dissent! gathering will take place on the 24th/25th April in Manchester. Come
along and get involved.

When Fucking The System Isn't Enough

Experiences of anarchist organizing in Scotland, leading up to a five-year anti-poll-tax campaign. Includes a look at lessons learned regarding anarchist organizing, anarchist groups, and vanguards.

The talk is broken into 3 parts: 2 halves of Ramsey's presentation and about 30 minutes of discussion afterwards.

[Y note: This is one of the best talks on anarchist organizing that I have heard, and considering the mixed success of the anti-war and anti-globalization movements in the UK today, it seems worth learning as much as possible from past struggles.]
