Operation Splish Splash Splosh

CIRCA | 08.07.2005 21:26 | G8 2005 | Ecology

Clownbatants from the Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army (CIRCA) visited two petrol stations in Glasgow today to thank Shell and Jet for their contributions to global warming. They brought paddling pools, sandpits, and aquariums to the forecourts, to illustrate the effects of climate change.

Operation Splish Splash Splosh inundated two petrol station forecourts on the south side of Glasgow with a tidal wave of rebelious clowns. Around 50 clowns from 5 clown batallions marked the end of the G8 summit in Gleneagles by drawing attention to the role of the oil industry in contributing to climate change. Convinced that a rise in sea levels and temperatures would lead to a better climate for Glasgow, they expressed their joy at the thought of sunny beaches and exotic fish species arriving on the river Clyde.
Car drivers were also thanked for their personal contribution to fossil fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Cars were lovingly caressed, while petrol pumps became shrines to petro-chemical addiction.
A dissident batallion of local clowns who arrived on outdated and "sustainable" forms of transport tried desperately to fill their bicycles with petrol.
Unfortunately, the police who were present seemed to prevent many car drivers from entering the petrol stations, and sabotaged the clowns' drive to speed up global warming.

well done clowns :)

I hate how there are people who choose to sit and read articles with the aim of making negative comments and picking holes in what people do, and if they can't find anything bad about their actions they choose pick at little things about them like having a morrisons carrier bag, so what? whoever got that carrierbag shopped at morrisons yes, along with however many other millions of people do. We all need to eat man and sorry if people who protest about bad people sometimes have to buy things from bad places!

I liked the action :)

CIRCA originates from the UK though battalions are now being set up in other countries now.

Morrisons? What boycott? I don't think there is one at present.

"Morrisons? What boycott? I don't think there is one at present."

Perhaps you should do your homework in Morrisons past dealings then.

Just a thought?

quickie on boycotts

12.07.2005 17:53

Saw a great episode of South Park in which the residents decide to boycott walmart, and use their local grocery, the local grocery turns into a walmart-like establishment.

We are not about boycotts as we are left with no option but to buy from capitalist industries as they have the monopoly on everything, including our land instead we are about direct action. At this action we shut down two garages for a considerable period of time, and informed the staff there to the issues of climate change - staff who DO hold the power to shut down the companies much more than we ever could, actions like this inspire people to take control of their lives, workplaces, large retail outlets, etc.

Plus we had fun!

P.S: The only concern I have about the morrisons bag, is: please, re-use it!
