Some interesting quotes from the article:

"As he prepares to return to Britain he admits he is frightened about what will happen to him next but says: ‘I am glad this has blown apart the world of undercover policing because it must change. I am coming home to face the music.’"

"Kennedy used a specially modified Casio G Shock watch worth £7,000 and equipped with a microchip to record a meeting of activists prior to the planned raid on the Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in 2009."

Starting to sound like you throw the word "rape" around like zionists throw the term "anti-semetic"...so much, so broadly without basis...that it ceases to mean anything?

Starting to sound

rape = penetration without informed consent

23.01.2011 23:09

I imagine you are just trolling, but I would define rape as penetration of someone's body without their informed consent. If it is done by someone in a position of power, even worse.

I won't be surprised if the system has some legal bullshit to get him off, but for me personally, what he did was rape and he deserves serious punishment for it.

Thinking about all the people who lie to get sex, men and women, there is probably very little sex without rape.

the very same people, we are supposed to believe, they are employed to protect. And the truth is there are a lot of worse cops out there than Kennedy. No authority can ever be trusted. Take a look at this article about a police officer who was recently convicted:

No bad apples, just a rotten barrel.

Rape...Really??!!?

23.01.2011 23:49

Having been involved with this low life in the planning of Dissent and even in so called secret activities at Gleneagles im with everyone in condemning him but the use of the word rapist is a step too far. He didnt hold anyone down and force them to have sex with him did he? He was dishonest, yes, but its a bit vitriolic to start throwing the term rapist around. It kinda defeats the aim of a sensible argument to resort to inflammatory rhetoric.

squirrello

@ACAB

23.01.2011 23:50

No, you are just defining rape as what you want it to be. If Mark Kennedy had raped anybody, we would have soon heard about it very loudly indeed. The activist community is like that. You cant have consensual sex with somebody and then a year or two down the line, decide it is rape just because you discover something about the person that you didnt know at the time. Thats complete bollox.

24.01.2011 00:25

Once again, the above photos both have Nick Sterns name on them. That would be ok for the top one "Stone at the wire", because he surely took the photo, but why would his name be on the photo "Stone the cop" taken many years ago?

Sam

@Sam

24.01.2011 00:25

Yes, I am defining rape as what I want it to be. I'm sure they can cope up with legal loopholes; after all the law is there to protect the powerful and the privileged. But in my book, a person in a position of power, like a cop, who abuses that power for sexual favours is a rapist. You may disagree, that's fine. But I still think of him as a rapist.

violation by the state

24.01.2011 01:04

Violation by the state would probably be a better term as using sex to obtain information was authorised.

But rape is not just forced entry. It is sex without consent. Could it be stretched to sex without (informed) consent?

If you have sex with a woman whilst she is drunk, legally it is rape as it was without her prior consent.

Would those who had sex with Mark Stone aka Mark Kennedy have done so had they known sex was being used to obtain information, to blend in? I guess not. Only those with who he had sex could answer the question.

But the fact those who did have sex with various infiltrators said they felt violated and there is to be a blockade of Scotland Yard at 8am this morning I think answers the question.

Not all cops are bastards imo

24.01.2011 01:26

But these cops, and their superiors, are worse than bastards, worse than snitches, they are rapists. No fucking doubt about it imo.

I have a healthier, more normal working class opinion of ordinary cops, even of ordinary undercover cops. Most of them are bastards, some of them are decent. But these rapists, and their bosses, who permit rape as a policy, well, how would they like it if some pretty young activists started fucking their kids under false pretenses. I'd like to see how these sexy cops are treated in prison, but I don't think we should wait for for that improbability to happen. These men should live in fear for payback for what they've done, not just the uniformed rapists, but their bosses too. They haven't just betrayed their profession or their sex, they have betrayed our species. They are mad beasts at best. And that includes everyone who excuses or minimises this unforgivable behaviour. Not all cops are bastards, but these cops will be fertiliser.

Simple rule for any cops reading this: rape us again and don't expect a pleasant death.

Reflections of a former victim of sexual assault at the hands of the pOlice!

24.01.2011 06:26

Look folks,

I was sexually assaulted by police in Darwin watchhouse in 1998 following my arrest for disabling urannium minig equipment at Jabiluka site (we shut that one down, yahoo!)

Her motive may not have been sexual, but the target area definitely was (she yanked my ghoulies real hard half way through a vigorious cross gender frisking) some people say I could have provoked it!

She was working her way down the line..four tribal aborigines and me, the only white boy all five adopting the position, palms on the wall. She was frisking the guy next to me when I made my pitch.

Me: " Can you put me in a cell next to my co-defendant so we can prepare for court?"
Her: "Shut the fuck up!"
Me: "Having a bad day are we?"
Her; "No I was born a bitch!"
Me: (now she's frisking my upper body) "Well at least you chose an appropriate profession!"
She grabs me between the crutch grabs my balls and yanks them real hard.

It wasn't rape (in Queensland and Victoria..any object in any orafice without consent is rape
eg. putting a toothbrush in someone's mouth
...this is not the case in Ireland...not sure what it is in the UK?)
...it definitely felt like sexual assaault and a pretty effective attempt at humiliation.

I started ranting about "What's the policy on cross gender frisking in this establishment"
Do the white boy cops get to feel up the aboriginal female prisoners as a perk of the job, do they?
What the fuck etc?"

They threw me in a cell with the four tribals and Dion Yost. I found Dion very emotionally supprortive and the aborigines confused about my then vegetarianism. Dion had been flown up that day from Alice Springs on an arsion charge as he had burnt out his Darwin remand cell in protest to the 3 suicides that had occured in two short months. Dion was in custody for shooting and wounding 4 police officers. Dion had also been shot in the incident.

I have lived with many people inside (I've done 2 years jail in various countries) and outside (I've done 30 years in Catholic Worker houses of hospitality and working in homeless shelters, refuges etc) of jail who have raped, who have been raped, who have been falsely accused of rape. I am presently organsing against the extradition of Julian Assange, the U.S. presenlty using accusations in Sweden as a holding action before getting him in an orange jumpsuit and an American gulag. The British co-operating opposing bail in December. The British left paralysed by the nature of the sex abuse accsuations....p.c. "too cool for school" folks probably fearful of looking soft on rape and sexual abuse by opposing the extradition of Assange. Go Figure? You tell me? Mannin and Assange going to jail for the rest of their daze and not a peep out of the Brit @ or peace movement.

I also know a former FBI agent who is now a Catholic Worker in the U.S. (he is interviewed in the doc John Lenon verse the FBI or is the USA?), I knew a woman who was an Australian Commonwealth undercover cop who infiltrated the Ananda Marga, resigned and joined them, then moved to my town and became an @ punk and fell to heroin addiction and suicide. I attended her funeral.

My faith tells me everyone comes form somewhere and everyone's story is redeemable. Look at Ricky Tomlinson - National Front background to lefty trade union organiser and political priosner (shrewsbuty 2) and now actor and general good guy.

So yeah tone it down on crying wolf/rape/whatever ...it's a serious accusation don't wear it out!

24.01.2011 08:49

so the law is written to protect the state huh

Rape

(1)A person (A) commits an offence if—
(a)he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person (B) with his penis,
(b)B does not consent to the penetration, and
(c)A does not reasonably believe that B consents.
(2)Whether a belief is reasonable is to be determined having regard to all the circumstances, including any steps A has taken to ascertain whether B consents.
(3)Sections 75 and 76 apply to an offence under this section.
(4)A person guilty of an offence under this section is liable, on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for life.

So theres the law, look it up. Please repost this with the section giving exclusion from prosicution to officers of the law?

The use of the word Rape in this context is just anouther example of how far removed from reality some people are. You just make the whole activist movement look a joke....or maybe thats your idea. I mean ACAB is a term that I have heard cops use at demos, so did you and mark got to Hendon at the same time?

anon by right

re: also at ACAB and Danny

24.01.2011 09:40

Yes, obviously the law is to protect the rich and powerful: not just the state, but the wealthy and big corporations too. MPs who pass the laws are powerful. Lobbyists who draft the laws are from wealthy corporations. Judges who enforce the laws are mostly old public-school educated white men. Come on, this is obvious.

People in positions of power have a special duty not to abuse the public. e.g. teachers and their pupils, doctors and their patients, police and the public. Mark Kennedy was a policeman who used deceit in order to gain sexual favours from a member of the public. This is while he was officially working. Did he reasonably believe a person would consent if he wasn't lying? Definitely not. If you or I as a member of the public (assuming you aren't a cop standing up for your colleague) exaggerate our attributes to someone we are interested in that is one thing. For someone like a cop to do it on duty by completely lying about their whole identity is completely different.

And I don't know what cops you've been around, but I have never heard one use the term ACAB?!

But informed consent is a whole lot more meaningful.

Why are we having this discussion?

Do any of the activists who had sex with Mark consider that they've been raped? Unless they do, what's the purpose of this messy, public, potentially distressing, semantic argument?

rape definition - more detail

24.01.2011 13:28

The sections 75 and 76 of the legal definition of rape from the 2003 law are worth spelling out, as they go into detail about "consent". 76 regards the rapist pretending to be someone else - but this does not mean e.g. pretending to be an activist when they are actually a cop, it means pretending to be Bob when you are actually his twin Fred. But sec 75 is more interesting, as far as I know it is there specifically to deal with e.g. sex with people who are not mentally capable of understanding the act of sex-penetration, or to cover the rapist claiming that the penetration is for some other reason - the case in legal history is of a music teacher claiming that a blow job would improve singing ability. Despite this, the wording of sec 75 is about misleading B about the "nature and purpose" of the act.

Surely this could be interpreted to mean that the women in question were consenting to penetration for one of a number of reasons - for love, for pleasure, for release, whatever, but they were NOT consenting to penetration for any of the other purposes - that the act's nature and purpose was for intelligence gathering and maintaining cover?

He could have got more women in bed saying he was a cop!

24.01.2011 14:33

On the issue of rape he could have got far more women in bed by going to posh bars and telling them the truth that he was a cop rather than a tramp protester! What is amazing is not that he was able to seduce a woman protester but that he was able to do it by pretending he was a scruffy unwashed tramp protester! So if anything he was under playing who he really was. If I work in the City in a smart suit and earn wads of cash does it make me a rapist if I dress up scruffy and pretend to be poor when I meet women?

Realist

@?

24.01.2011 14:41

Not sure what you're getting at. Presumably the people who went on that demo knew what they wanted to say, and as far as I can tell it doesn't seem to have involved talking about rape. I don't see a problem, or a compelling reason to have a unseemly and divisive arguments about rape in front of the Daily Mail.

Silas

Another thing

24.01.2011 14:58

Another thing is that he didn't dress up like a protester for the purpose of getting women into bed. He dressed like a protester for his undercover work. He just happened to end up getting emotionally involved with a woman protester. It was not planned.

Seriously, can someone explain the need to go to the pigs/state/ authorities to sort this out. You've got his name, his face, tons of other information about him - what's the issue. Find him, then do what has to be done. You are in the 'struggle'. It's not a dance 'pardon me for standing on your foot' routine. Get organised and stop the belly aching. The violation has happened, now deal with it on your own terms, not the systems. Take care.

re: palestinian guy

24.01.2011 15:50

"wasn't there a palestinian guy done on rape recently for pretending to be jewish?"

Yes, but that is because Israeli law is different to ours. In any case, an normal individual not mentioning their religion is completely different to an on-duty police officer sexually abusing a member of the public by deceit.

And I couldn't really give a shit about what the law defines as rape. We're supposed to be anarchists here, FFS. To my mind it is rape and totally out of order.

Protesters allow themselves to be stuffed over by the police every time.

24.01.2011 16:47

Think about Climate Camp 08. Most of those who suffered illegal searches and had possessions stolen by police didn't make a claim. In fact its quite rare for protesters to demand money from the policy force for the time and goods they lose. Some people must have supplied their time or property to PC Kennedy, under a fraudulent claim by him. Why not start putting invoices in to his unit.

Calm down, analyse, show solidarity.

24.01.2011 18:37

It would be better to offer our solidarity and support in whatever terms THEY want and find helpful to the women deceived by Kennedy, "Jacobs" and now Boyling, rather than debating legal semantics here. If they want proper legal advice, they know how to get it.

What's interesting is the extent to which Kennedy is exposing and winding up his erstwhile bosses, and the implied threats against him (and his parents) by them. There's clearly an agenda here, but hard to work out what it is at present. Or is he just flailing around with no agenda? I doubt it. Is it his agenda or Max Clifford's?

Ch. Supt. Adrian Turdway, one of the cops who said to have flown to the USA to contact him, is (according to FITwatch, whose spelling differs from mine) now the top boss of NPOIU.

@ nemesis You look like another police troll (see last SchNews). If not, why did you make the post you just did? All grist to the Daily Mail's mill.

Oh, and just to counter more of the Daily Mail's crap, I wish to state that I was NOT enticed into the political and direct action circles I inhabit by sexual advances or favours from any women. As if! What do they think this is? A "flirty fishing" cult? There are a few laughs amidst the shit, aren't there?

Infighting such as this doesn't do activism any favours.
Better to pull together against those that oppress us.
I bet the cops n all are giggling over all of us getting our knickers in a twist over this theory.
As has been said unless the women who were seduced by the undercover cops see what happened to them as rape the point is mute!

@Stroppyoldgit

Yeah you're right. After reading the Schnews article I now realise that in the context of that article, I wrote a comment that was not helpful. As an anarchist the idea of going to the state for justice where they themselves are the perpetrators seems at odds. My frustration got the better of me and I acted on instinct. I'm not a pig and do not take offence at your insinuation, which is understandable in the context. Calm down, analyse, show solidarity - I agree.

Get Real ist

25.01.2011 15:54

Why are 'Realists' 'tramp-protestor' posts allowed here? The admins worry about how the Daily Mail will read our comments but permit the Daily Mail to post abuse here? Fuck that.

Keith, rape is currently defined in statute as sex without 'reasonable consent', and I don't find this reasonable. Beyond that, there is currently a case in the UK of someone being prosecuted for allegedly 'obtaining sexual contact through deception', and if they can prosecute that case then they should be prosecuting these officers and their bosses on the same basis. Since murder is also illegal and yet cops get away with murder, then I wouldn't hold your breathe but I applaud these women for trying every avenue.

Regardless of the legality, every cop reading this knows this was immoral behaviour that crossed a line, and if they don't get prosecuted then they can't have any complaints if we treat each cop as a rapist. The lie being sold by the Daily Mail is that these officers would have stood out if they weren't promiscuous, as we all know that to be untrue.

I hope American activists are keeping their eyes peeled for Kennedy. We really need a website with the equivalent of a FIT card, reminding us of all the photos of all the infiltrators, so that any new undercover recruits realise they will never be forgotten or forgiven. We really need to speak with the Daily Mail journalist who interviewed Kennedy and reprinted his lies.

Danny

Advce and support

25.01.2011 19:10

I had sexual relations with one of these officers. Now that I know he was a police officer, but didn't at the time, I do not feel that I was I able to give informed consent. I feel abused. Raped? I have not used this word yet to describe what this man did to me. The man I had sex with, on more than one occasion, did not physically force me, but he did lie to me, manipulate and exploit me and use his and the state's power in order to have sex with me. I was a young woman, a lot younger than him.

I am considering what action to take. Where could I get legal advice?

I think talking to rape crisis (google) would be a good idea to review your options and probably still the best place for some impartial counselling.

Take Danny's rabid crap, and any other coercive voice with a pinch of salt. Take the course of action you yourself feel most appropriate and that you are comfortable with and feel will have the best outcome. It's your decision.

Re Punished for my politics

25.01.2011 23:49

If you're serious about taking legal advice on this matter by all
accounts do. My concern isn't about pursuing that, I'm more concerned about the state of
your mental health with regards to this abuse of power.

Many activists are now questioning their proximity with the undercover
cops but I'll be most surprised if most haven't been close enough for
them to extract information and we've yet to discover the extent of the
operation - there are probably many more operatives not yet 'outed'.
However, you've had intimate contact which sets your experience apart
from others.

Please ensure you seek some form of counseling to help you process the
info and to alleviate the stress with someone known and/or trusted by
you.
