After swimming to the shore where he unveiled a poster Tom was attacked by a number of upper class twits on the towpath, whe the police arrived we we pointed out the assault we were told, " he fucking deserved it mate". Demands to have the the perpetrators arrested were predictably ignored, the police of course being the protectors of the privileged elite.

Tom is now under arrest, we are trying to find out where the State are holding him.

I watched the race (knowing the protest was coming) and I could not believe how late the crews pulled their oars,it was clear Tom was in the water, he was shouting slogans and calling out that he was there despite that they carried on rowing right up to the last moment. Incredibly dangerous for him and a complete disregard for life, I hope the cox of the Oxford boat faces police action.

Yes his family is very rich but that should not matter if somebody is as committed as he is. Of course it's not "clearly wrong". An outsider has no way of knowing which claim is correct.

Hey,

Who is deleting the comments from this list?

They have deleted the comments which are semi-supportive of protest but left the critical posts ..including the posts which have objectionable expletives.

How can it be Ok to use very rude four letter word in a comment? But it is not Ok to express some support for the right to protest?

We don't know the facts yet about this protest today - it would be nice to be able to find them out...so please stop deleting posts.

I saw the point of deleting earlier comments that alleged assault and others that called for violence, and even some of the abuse that followed in light of the content referencing violence especially, but a whole bunch of entirely legitimate comments have just been deleted in a second round of deletions. Whoever is doing this is undermining the credibility of this site; moderation should be about keeping the debate fair, not cleansing it of material you don't personally care for.
