Dale farm defends law as Basildon defy court

Residents at Dale Farm, the biggest Travellers' settlement in the UK under siege from an extreme-right wing-led local council, were furious and fearful this week following a bulldozer assault by Constant & Co., the 'gypsy eviction specialists', on a nearby trailer park.

Traveller eviction: Dale Farm

Dale farm will soon be facing eviction. It is a site near
to us, with about 1,800 people living there. So basically,
an entire village will get bulldozed. This Saturday, there
is a march by travellers and supporters: The Dale Farm Freedom March. It is a good first step in finding out how we can help, and a chance to show some solidarity.

The resistible rise of the Cottenham residents association

The so called Cottenham residents association (CRA) held a public meeting yesterday evening, 22 Feb 2005 in the local college hall. The turn out was impressive, a few hundred people gathered specially for the event. Despite what the name of the association would suggest its sole purpose is to handle a single 'issue' as they prefer to call it ('problem' would sound wrong to the BBC journalists that were present): the nearby traveler community of Smithy Fen.
