TOMMYS MOUSETRAP @edlnews #ANTIFA @dubdanu @bikeyjezmo @siegfails @misscheeky666

#LEADERTOMMY, Luton's Pegida Fuhrer Tommy "The Tit" Robinson has relented from his earlier position, and is now openly reaching out to all fascist orgs including hardcore Hitler-worshipping neo-Nazi groups who he had originally said were not welcome. Such is the nature of his backtrack that American white supremacist organisation "Pioneer Little Europe" have promised to attend, PLE friends with the KKK. Those in the British far right with any semblance of a brain cell have serious cause for concern. The call for "unity" has to be too good to be true for self-proclaimed neo-Nazis, when Tommy has a track record of shopping far right radicals to the police. Still, many full-on fascists are likely to stroll willingly head first into the Pegida mousetrap, eagerly swallowing the bait like the idiots they are. Read more >>

Why we boycott the Sun Newspaper. Don't buy it, don't read it!

Letter from the Sun received by Liverpool Manager Kenny Daglish
As you may be aware the people of Liverpool have been involved in a long, protracted and nasty battle with the British state, and their mediums of communication. In particular the Sun newspaper, or as it's known here the Scum. We don't buy it, we don't stock it in our newsagents. If you visit Merseyside you will not find a copy of that shit in any of our railway stations, railworkers amongst many others refuse to have anything to do with it...Don't ask for it because you will be causing offence.

When did we give the police permission to patrol our communities while armed?

In a little-noticed move, a small number of police officers are now routinely carrying sidearms while on patrol in parts of the mainland UK. How did this come about, and does it alter the relationship between the constabulary and the public?

Chester & Wrexham Frack Off News: Today at Dart Energy's Drilling Rig in Farndon

Dart Energy's drilling site near Farndon, Cheshire

I thought I'd take a trip to Rowley Hill, Kingsmarsh, Farndon today, to check out and take a few photos of the site where Dart Energy is now drilling with a view to exploiting coal bed methane reserves, one of three sites in the immediate local area. Dart is experiencing fierce resistance to its extreme energy operations across the globe and is not doing well, reporting a loss of $32.7 million in the six months to December 2013, compared with a loss of $11.4 million for 2012.

This Sunday, 16 March from 1-5pm, there's a national demonstration at the site so I thought it might be useful to get an idea of how the land lies beforehand.

Can of Worms Opened: The EDL Conspiracy Theories Start Here

The judge sentencing in the Tommy Robinson false passport case today opened a wriggling, purified can of worms. Stephen Yaxley Lennon of Luton was, as expected, sentenced to a jail term as almost everybody had expected (albeit a short and unsatisfactory one). That is no surprise, as passport fraud involving the United States, meant the UK felt compelled to act. What was not not expected, was the judge's strange but honest remarks about Tommy's actual identity. Read more >>

Census case verdict in Liverpool: Donate to support refusers

Andy Manifold was back at Liverpool's Dale Street Magistrates' Court on Friday 19 October to hear the outcome of his trial on a charge of failing to complete the 2011 Census. Six people held a solidarity vigil outside the court beforehand. In the week that the CPS dropped charges against another census refuser in Liverpool, Andy was found guilty, fined and costs were awarded against him.

A number of people are now in the position of having fines taken directly from their benefits. As these aren't enough to live on even before any deductions, please consider making a donation to the solidarity fund if you can afford it, and particularly if you resisted the census but weren't prosecuted. Over 1 in 20 households didn't complete a census return (see this Daily Telegraph article) but only a few hundred people were prosecuted. Donation details below.

Fascists score a win on the streets of Liverpool

On Saturday, , a mob of between 150-250 fascists ran free on the streets of Liverpool. As well as hounding a tiny demonstration against police brutality out of Derby Square, they were able to turn an Irish Republican march way from the City Centre. Yesterday was a definite win for the far-right and underlines the need for a serious re-evaluation of anti-fascist organisation.

I've said on numerous occasions before that we're seeing the return of the traditional fascist tactic of controlling the streets. The British National Party is in electoral decline, whilst the English Defence League's limited strategy of having people shout in a police kettle has disenchanted followers in much the same way as the left's penchant for A to B marches. However the splinter groups, in particular the Infidels, offer those up for it a more genuine chance to run amok whilst being free to be as violent and racist as they like due to the lack of electoral ambition as a moderating force. Peaceful Anti-cuts Demonstration in Liverpool Attacked by Merseyside Police

I arrived at the demonstration just after 4pm. Exchange Street West, to side of town hall, was already closed off by police, presumably to “facilitate” the demo. Councillors had already entered the building and there was around 100 people outside, more milling around than anything. The atmosphere was subdued compared to recent protests in the same location. The council meeting began a little later and the demonstration moved along the side street to be closer to the council chamber windows and to make itself heard to those inside. After some time elapsed with protestors shouting slogans and demanding answers from those within the council chamber, but basically milling around in the barricaded area on the side street, an attempt was made by the police to kettle the demonstration using officers on foot and mounted officers, and the situation immediately became tense. Communique from the Buenos Aires Support Network for Freddy, Marcelo, and Juan

We never forget our imprisoned comrades. We don’t mystify our respect for them but neither are we indifferent to their everyday experience. Solidarity is not, as has been demonstrated on several occasions, just a beautiful word or a slogan, but a practice inseparable from our struggle. This can be expressed in many diverse ways, and there are moments when an idea takes shape with forcefulness and continuity. Given the delicate situation (in court and in prison) that faces our comrades Juan Aliste Vega, Marcelo Villarroel Sepúlveda, and Freddy Fuentevilla Saa, who are currently held captive in prisons of the Chilean state, several individuals from Buenos Aires have decided to form a new support network in order to provide updates and disseminate information about their situation, as well as hopefully assisting in their return to the streets. Vilified nurse cleared of wrongdoing

Given the daily mail brigade who trashed this young woman's reputation forever won't have the common decency to print a prominent and full retraction, I am putting the story on indymedia in the hope that we can remove from our society the assumption that this woman carried out sickening acts, and in the hope that we can come to understand more the life-plundering relationship between the cops and corporate media. "The August 2011 Riots in Britain" : an analysis

For a few days in August 2011, the riots in Britain's cities flashed a searing light across the troubled sleep to which we, the ordinary people of that country, have been reduced by three decades of spiritless submission to the logic of capitalism. The only meaningful questions to ask about the riots are: how far did they go in repudiating the society that dominates us, and how can that repudiation be extended and deepened? Everything else is the howling of dogs. Read more >>

An open letter to those who condemn looting (Part one)

Dear you all,

I fear we have nothing to say to each other.

What follows may therefore represent one half of a dialogue in the way that yelling at a jukebox made of ice does. Perhaps the sheer exertion of speaking - a certain quantity of hot air - will soften the surface a bit, but it's a pretty one-sided discussion. And it doesn't mean you can or will stop repeating the records you have been given to play, those looping phrases and evasions. Read more >>
