North West Development Agency celebrates 10 years

MULE, 01-03-2010 17:33

You might have noticed the name North West Development Agency appearing all over MULE recently – it’s under pretty much every public-private stone you overturn. It puts a lot of money into regeneration, and is part of the New East Manchester Ltd partnership. It’s been funding the National Football Museum, it’s given money to United Utilities, and it’s supporting development of the region’s nuclear sector. Read more | 1 comment >>

Andi Ali's book on the BNP Dead Paki Walking: A study of the BNP

Tommy Flinn, 25-02-2010 17:46

Synopsis

During his investigations into the British National Party (BNP), academic researcher Andi Ali has come face-to-face with the brutal reality of racism in the UK. Threatened as a 'Dead Paki Walking' Ali has been beaten, stabbed and even abducted, and is included on the Neo-Nazi Redwatch hit-list. Ali s academic research in to the BNP has made him powerful enemies who have warned him to stop his activities. When he refused he was viciously assaulted outside Downing Street and left for dead. In Dead Paki Walking, Ali explains how his investigations started and of the means members of the far-right have taken to smear his name in order to stop his activities. As an autobiography, Dead Paki Walking is written in the first person and reads like a dark and sinister political thriller. The frightening fact is that the BNP are attracting an increasing number of supporters. If nothing else, Andi's book epitomizes the maxim 'know thine enemy'. This disturbing autobiography is a tale of one man's battle against racial intolerance, which Ali has fought everyday to uphold the liberal values in which he believes. Read more | 10 comments >>

Never Mind the B*****s?

Mrs. Charity Sweet, 22-02-2010 18:00

I have been further arrested on two separate occasions for public expression of "bollocks" and "blair". Both cases were dropped on the date of trial under somewhat convenient circumstances, the CPS offering no evidence. The first case was dropped the week the Sex Pistols released their 3oth anniversay edition of the album "Never Mind the Bollocks - Here's the Sex Pistols". The second case was to be attended by Lady mary Warnock, picking up the torch of common sense from Professor Kingsley and QC John Mortimer who valiantly defended our right to use that Saxon Age old word of bollocks. The Really Open University: Strike / Occupy / Transform!

ROU, 18-02-2010 11:10

What is an ROU?
In recent weeks a struggle has begun to emerge at the University of Leeds. The university management is claiming that they need to cut spending by £35 million due to the economic crisis. The lecturers union (UCU) rightfully claims this could cause the loss of 700 jobs. The effects will go beyond just job losses but will continue the degradation of education caused by deep rooted systematic problems. Read more | 4 comments >>

Holly and Tracy twin Hasty Lane and Sipson
Sunday 7th February 2010

Residents and campaigners against the expansion of Manchester and Heathrow airports have joined forces in a show of solidarity between both places threatened by airport expansion. Around 80 people turned out for the launch of the 'Adopt-a-Resident' scheme on Hasty Lane which involved campaigners from across Manchester and across the country pledging to support the residents in their battle to save their houses and that if it came to it – to take direct action against the bulldozers trying to demolish their homes.

EDL Bottles Out Of Bolton Nazi Brawl

Domestos - Destroys All Known Nazi Groups!!!, 08-02-2010 02:21

The excellent news for everybody who finds racism repulsive is that the neo-Nazi (in denial) cretins of the EDL have decided not to seik heil around Bolton after a customary visit to Wetherspoons. The street-fighters of the EDL had deliberately planned their riotous punch-up to coincide with a multi-faith gathering, hoping the gutter antics of their football hooligan masterrace would drive a wedge between Muslims and people of other religions setting community against community resulting in an increase in racial tension.
