Request for photos of Geishas at the G8 summit

MPH march, Edinburgh Here a request for photos of the Geishas that were part of the protests at the G8 summit. The Make Poverty History march, the Faslane blockade or the first day of the summit in and around Stirling were some of the things in which the 'Geishas of Gaiety' were 'mingling in the masses'. Also other actions in Nottingham, Sheffield and Derby had Geishas, any photos of that would be great.

If anyone has photos, please get in touch at  notts@indymedia.org

The photos will be used in a feature article on Notts Indymedia and for a new website about the radical arts collective of which the Geishas are part of.

Just to remind you of what they looked like, some pictures:

Indymedia - growing pains or symptoms of decay

Over the last couple of weeks a battle has been raging and opening fissures that threaten to drive apart the United Kollectives of Indymedia on this island. Unless you subscribe to the Sheffield IMC mailing list you are likely to be unaware about the arguments over claims of lack of communication, transparency and the existence of hidden hierarchies within the network.

G8 press accrediation refused to freelance journo

London based freelance journalist and film maker with an assignment to cover the G8 summit in Scotland has been refused press accrediation after vetting by police. No reason or justification has been given for the refusal which could easily been seen as state interference in freedom of expression under article 10 of the human rights act.

The journalist involved has no convictions and is a full member of the NUJ who had applied for official press accreditation to attend press conferences at the G8 summit over a month ago.

Around 3,000 journalists are expected to attend the G8 summit where they will out number delegates by two to one. The journalists who will attend have been hand picked by the state.

Stay tuned to indymedia for something other than corporate state sanctioned celebrity obsesed press coverage of the G8.
