worldwide climate change conference in Buenos Aires

The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change is taking place in Argentina from 6 to 17 December 2004.
Over 6,000 participants are gathering in Buenos Aires to decide on the fate
of the global climate. After Russia´s ratification of the Kyoto Protocol,
it is now coming into effect on 16 February 2005. Following are the comments of a participant at the conference.

Walks Users Criticise Obscure Planning Application

A view of the Walks as they are today The Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk submitted an environmentally damaging planning application for the Walks (an urban park) during National Tree Week and not mentioning the tree clearances in the summary of the application or during replies to public questions at the last council meeting.

Chemical concerns/ Institute still home to MIC stockpile

Twenty years ago today, forty tons of lethal MIC gas leaked from a pesticide factory in Bhopal, India. The disaster has killed up to 20,000 people and left at least 150,000 chronically ill to date. Today, an American plant owned by Bayer still stores roughly four times the MIC that leaked at Bhopal. The factory accounts for more than 90 percent of the stockpiles in the US.

Kings Lynn The Walks - Heritage Lottery Project

Critique of proposed bid for Heritage Lottery Funding to restore the Walks. The proposals envisage the removal of a total of 244 mature trees now with others to follow in 15 years. There is little sign, despite assurances from Heritage Lottery Fund that the proposals will take account of environmental/ecological/bio-diversity issues. The message once again is clear. Trees are the price of heritage lottery cash.
