Climate Change Activists Blockade Major Gas Terminal

Earth First! UK activists today blockaded the UK's largest off shore gas terminal at Bacton in Norfolk. 40% of the UK's domestic gas comes ashore here, is processed and distributed by pipeline. Activists blockaded the main road outside the site at 6.30 am this morning, preventing construction workers and shift owrkers from arriving.

Food Not (Bio)fuel protest Cambridge

The action was held at Tesco's store in Milton, just north of Cambridge. A dozen or so protesters braved the cold, the sun, and stroppy Tesco managers to draw attention to the increasing use of biofuels that wreck the environment and drive up food prices, most often in the developing world. The protest came at the end of a week of action called by biofuelwatch.org.uk.
Police were in attendance, but soon left, leaving Tesco staff so concerned about protester's safety that they repeatedly threatened to call the police when they stepped onto the forecourt. They finally got so fed up that just as we were about to leave they asked us to leave, in the process delaying our departure.

Cambridge biofuels protest this Saturday Feb 2

Everyone is welcome to come and join a protest against unsustainable biofuels, which will be held at the filling station in front of Tesco in Milton this Saturday Feb 2 from 1-3pm. We will display our nifty 'FOOD NOT FUEL' banner and hand out leaflets, as part of a UK-wide day of action called by biofuelwatch (biofuelwatch.org.uk).

A new grass roots project will be launched January 2008 at Ringsfield eco study centre nr Beccles, Suffolk.
The project involves local community skill sharing plus experts from across the country coming together to run workshops for environmental and social change. (this is a non profit making project. )All sessions will be run as cheaply as possible and be open to all.
Sust-education have been lucky enough to be able to use the beautiful Ringsfield Hall eco study Centre as a venue, 14 acres of amazing parkland........

Plane Stupid Disrupt Parliamentary Committee In Commons

3.15pm - Climate activists opposed to plans for a third runway at Heathrow this afternoon disrupted a Parliamentary inquiry going on inside the House of Commons. Protestors from climate action group, Plane Stupid, disrupted the proceedings of the Transport Select Committee who were hearing evidence from BAA boss, Steven Nelson and Aviation Minister, Jim Fitzpatrick.
