Next week's half term will see a plethora of activities for children, based in the Radford area - 2 days of creative workshops along the theme of reuse and recycle - followed by a Play parade, celebrating the re-development of Independent Street park and making noise about children’s right to play out safely. Information on volunteering opportunities in play will also be available.

Nottingham Gaza solidarity occupation violently evicted

At around 6pm today the student occupation of B62 at Nottingham University was violently evicted by campus security. Around 10 security staff used force to remove the occupants into the snow outside. Students are being forced to wait in the cold whilst they go in one by one to pick up belongings. They are being forced to give ID in order to be allowed entry.

A sizable group of Nottingham students have tonight occupied a large lecture hall in the Law and Social Sciences building at Nottingham University. This action appears to be both in solidarity with the people of Gaza, and in defence of students' own right to protest and free speech, and students have already indicated a number of demands for action on the part of the University.

Play Parade - 'Rally for the Right to Play'

Culminating in a Play Parade -Thursday 19th feb, meet 12pm, Independant Street Park parading to Radford Primary School.

Nottingham Council this week unveiled designs for a replacement facility for the Victoria Baths leisure centre, which they decided to close last year. The move to pledge £8m of taxpayers' money for another construction project, in lieu of a £1m refurbishment, defied popular opinion. This week campaigners who previously praised the Council described their disappointment at the conduct of the Council in the affair.
