Cameron heckled at Xmas lights ceremony

Prime Minister David Cameron was heckled on Friday evening at a Christmas lights ceremony in Witney by several people angry at the impact of welfare reforms and cuts. The protesters read the names and details of people who had died as a result of these policies, and held placards accusing Cameron of having "blood on his hands". Read more >>

OxIMC film night for November: Even the Rain

We're back in on Sunday 4th November with the Spanish language film También la Lluvia (Even the Rain) a film from 2010 and set in Bolivia and based on a screenplay by Paul Laverty and directed by Iciar Bollain. From 7pm we'll be showing the latest citizen journalist film shorts from the streets of Europe depicting the people's struggle against the 'austerity measures' and sinking economies. Read more >>

OSARCC is now recruiting for volunteers

We are currently looking for new volunteers to staff our telephone and email helplines. Full training will be provided and we look for women who are sympathetic to our principles and who are team players. We require volunteers to have a good level of English and they must be able to be involved for a minimum of 18 months. Training commences in October 2012 and runs over a series of evenings and weekends. Read more >>

Torch relay dissent in Oxford

On the way there, Cowley Rd temporarily taken over by Coke signs...
This evening a handful of people decided at short notice to do a demo at the Olympic Torch relay... and one of us ended up occupying a traffic light post right in the middle of the route. The lesson: it's possible to do much more than you might think! Read more >>

An anonymous group targeted Serco, the detention profiteers (and all-round capitalist outsourcing wrong-uns) at their offices in Culham Science Park tonight. Several prominent signs were redecorated and bus stops nearby were postered explaining why. Read more >>

Keep Gloucestershire's NHS Public Rallies Sat 16th June: Save Our NHS!

The Keep Gloucestershire's NHS Public campaign hit the headlines earlier this year when a legal challange by 76 year old Michael Lloyd, supported by Gloucestershire anti-cuts groups, forced local NHS bosses to stop plans to take community health services out of the NHS and hand them over to a 'community interest company'.
The battle to keep these services out of the hands of private sector health multinationals is not over, however, and co-ordinated county-wide protest rallies are taking place in Gloucestershire on Saturday June 16th. Read more >>
