Blockade of Israeli Company Carmel-Agrexco

imc-uk-features | 03.09.2006 14:53 | Campaign against Carmel-Agrexco | Anti-militarism | Palestine | London

A number of Palestine Solidarity activists blocaded the UK headquarters of Israeli company Carmel-Agrexco for over 11 hours on 30 August, 2006, to gain ruling on the legality of trading with Israeli settlements [see report]. The purpose of the protest was to expose an Israeli company that is engaging in continuous unlawful and brutal activity by importing fresh produce originating from illegal Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Carmel-Agrexco, however, chose to withstand the disruption and not have the blockaders charged with 'aggravated trespass'. At the end of the day only one activist was arrested and subsequently de-arrested.

The method of protest was to construct two large metal triangular cages at each entrance. Protestors secured their necks to the cages by using bicycle D-Locks, with several supporters close at hand. One cage served to totally shut down the exit, and the other caused major disruption at the entrance.

Using Realistic Terms About Israeli Land Theft.

13.09.2006 03:50

Most often we see those American, or Russian or Ukranian Jews who are given special financing deals by the Israeli government to take and build on the demolished Palestinian homesteads refered to as 'SETTLERS' - as if they were going out into the American Wilderness and 'Settling' in the unclaimed forest.

But what these people are doing is SQUATTING on land that has been Stolen for them by slaughter and destruction. Such a person who would accept an invitation to take a families land who had been there for hundreds of years and then who were killed or driven out !! is not a 'Settler'. They are THEIVES who receive the Stolen property of others. In an honest sense - what else could you correctly call them? Those who take stolen property are the accomplices of theives.

Hence these people Squatting on a defeated people's land are Squatters - not 'settlers'.

PROPERTY IS THEFT

hey John P.
Property is Theft.

Squatter

WARNING - The Israeli side of things in my comment.

29.09.2006 23:39

John Peretz, sorry to hear about your inferiority complex. There are plenty of Sephardic "squatters" as well, and if you’ll look at the European maps you’ll find that borders changed there frequently causing many squatters by your definition.
I’m not going to argue with you about the nature of the settlements because I think the Pals have the right to self-determination on these lands (even though they missed it five times already). I hope the Palestinian leadership will unite to start working in that direction instead of keeping their futile “armed conflicts” which only harms their own population more.

Now, about Agrexco, my uncle in law was one of the people who helped forming the Palestinian agriculture ministry, so I know a few things about the subject… Agrexco infact, is one of the Israeli companies that exports Palestinian agriculture products (flowers the Euros like, strawberries...) – even now, when the Egyptian border is opened (especially for importing explosives ). The Palestinian farmers prefer the Israeli way because of the Egyptian bureaucracy and corruption, but the ways to Israel are often blocked because of the terrorist minority that wants to go all boom boom in our country so much of the goods go down the drain.

My point… is that Agrexco are not the guys to block. But the Palestinian farmers who made good money close to the millennium and are now near bankruptcy know where to point their fingers at. They are angry at Hamas (at least that’s what they say to Israeli ears).

Sorry for my English, it went through word spelling but that’s not my only problem. Ill try to stay out of this site if I would just learn how to control my curiosity - I got here only to see some of the racists views some say are represented here (which I found a bit odd since the Left and racism don’t seem to collide in anyway), when I suddenly ran into something I know and I can contribute about. So in short, don’t waste your time on a replay you intend on me to read.
