Right to Housing - France and Europe
400 people came together to the protests at 50-52 Rue Laffite, (Paris,
9th district), before a large building which had been vacant for 4
years, belonging to the AGF (a French insurance corporation). Demands
had been made to the government to requisition the building for social
ousing. After an aggressive attack by the reserve army to block the
entrance doors, and a sit-in of an hour, people returned to Rue de la
Banque. The Ministry of the Housing Crisis was present in full:
Committee for Action on Homelessness (CAL), Committee of the Homeless
(CDSL), Right to Housing (DAL), and Movement for Art and Culture in
the Neighbourhood (MACAQ).

Summary of today's police raids in Germany
Whilst German television channels reported live from the razzias in the big cities, according to the populist press farms in Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg and Niedersachsen were also affected.
Several reasons were given so far for the raids, which nevertheless seemed to centre on and affect mainly infrastructure and logistics around the protests against the G8 summit.

The gentrification of free festivals
It is spring equinox, the moon is bright. I had sweet-talked some sweet foreigners into attending the Beltane festival on Calton Hill in Edinburgh tonight. It used to be a great festival, music, fire, dance. I've been about 5 times over it's 20 year history, but I've been busy with war stuff for the past 3 years. I did go the year it was 'banned' (
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2003/05/66387.html ) and I was one of the people who ignored the council bouncers and took down the barriers. I've done other stuff to help out too, and when they started asking for donations, I was happy to donate.
