pics of "Kasa de la Muntanya" support protest in Edinburgh

Dancing to the beat of resistance Demonstrators descended on the Spanish Consulate in Edinburgh on 29th September to express solidarity with the threatened Barcelona squat LA KASA DE LA MUNTANYA.

Placard-waving protestors plastered the Consulate with flyers, delivered a letter to the Consulate-General and distributed leaflets denouncing the attempted eviction of the self-managed community centre.

"For 14 years LA KASA DE LA MUNTANYA has been a community, cultural and social centre run on principles of self-organisation and self-regulation. Despite the fact that there is clear evidence that the Spanish government has obtained ownership of the building illegally and has no plans for its use, an eviction has been scheduled for 2nd October," declared flyers distributed by the dozen demonstrators.

The New World: rapport about the balanced community of the New World

The New World is in initiative for a New World community, based on Pacifism, Socialism, and Environmentalism. Heiko de Graaf and Erik van Luxzenburg have created it at December the 12, 1996 after a medium period of discussing how a New World order has to look like with additions of Ronald Visser. At December the 12 1996, Erik van Luxzenburg completed this report. He also made this translation at February 29 2000. Now it is a years old project of Peacefull Young Idealists from the Netherlands. though created in 1996 it is stil a valid dream. The New World tries to give a general philosophy based on socialist, anarchist and partly kibbuts ideals to create autarkic communities and the ways these communities co-operate as parrallel societies next to the nowadays society.

An update is necessary to invent communities based on this philosophy living in cities or urbanised areas there the original philosophy was based on "empty" areas in Asia

No to the M74 Northern Extension in Glasgow

The Scottish Executive plans to build a 6-lane elevated motorway through the southern suburbs of Glasgow. The M74 Northern Extension, would cost about £375-500 million and would be the most expensive transport project in Scotland.
JAM74, a coalition of community, environmental and sustainable transport groups, believes this 1960s-style road planning will cause pollution, health problems, community breakdown and won't free up traffic or bring the jobs that are promised and calls for a halt to the road plans and independant research on alternative transport options.
