Police billboard subvertised

04-04-2009 18:28 | Terror War | Nottinghamshire

State sponsored fear
You've probably seen one of these disgusting fear mongering billboards - they're all over Nottingham at the moment, encouraging us to be suspicious of our neighbours. Someone obviously couldn't put up with the bullshit any longer.

Storming the Banks

02-04-2009 21:28 | Analysis | Climate Chaos | Globalisation | Nottinghamshire

An article appeared on the national Indymedia site calling on us to storm the banks. While I understand the feelings from which it comes I don't think that will achieve very much.

Trying to make sense of the G20 protests

02-04-2009 15:01 | Repression | Social Struggles | Nottinghamshire

There have been ominous signs ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/feb/23/police-civil-unrest-recession) of it coming for some time but it seemed protesters were still unprepared for the level of police violence ( http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/04/426091.html) that was unleashed in London yesterday. The infamous kettling tactics of the British police have claimed their first life
( http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/04/426078.html) and there are numerous reports of head wounds, crushing and unprovoked attack. Today the convergence centre and Ramparts have been raided ( http://london.indymedia.org.uk/articles/1002) by riot cops and there are reports of further arrests. When we attack capital the defenders of capital will hit back, viciously.

Support Lincoln & Nottingham Animal Rights

30-03-2009 04:29 | Animal Liberation | Nottinghamshire | Sheffield

Zoos and circuses are prisons
This includes a call out to support Lincoln Animal Rights, in particular with the 'great' British Circus that is dragging many animals, including 3 elephants, all around Lincolnshire.

Anyone closer to the Lincoln area, or with friends near there, PLEASE contact  lincoln-animal-rights@hotmail.co.uk as the GBC demo in Skegness will be difficult for Nottm AR people to support due to other events in Nottingham on Saturday 4th April

Foot in mouth disease rampant in BNP

29-03-2009 23:12 | Anti-racism | Nottinghamshire

A recent report on protests against the BNP in Sutton mentioned some rather strange quotes from a prospective MEP. Lewis Allsebrook, who is currently a local councillor for the BNP in Heanor West, is 4th on their East Midlands list of candidates for the European elections and would "revel at causing some havoc" if he were to get to Brussels. He also thinks the Church of England's teachings of the Bible are "normally twisted and evil" and that there is a "ring of darkness around Nottingham" that Labour would call "Diversity"."

Get your maps here! Get your maps here! - Map of the Square Mile

Technological gremlins and exhaustion have been banished and more easily printable versions of the maps of the Square Mile and the ExCeL Centre have now been sorted. A3 is the best size for the Square Mile map, so for those without A3 printers, there are two A4 versions you can print out and stick together with old-fashioned sticky tape. The map is downloadable as a JPEG or PDF in A4, A3 and split A3 versions, in black and white or colour.

Here's the full map: Version for printing to A3 - JPG | Version for printing to A3 - PDF | Version for printing to A4 - JPG | Version for printing to A4 - PDF

However, it's best to print an A3 map on two A4 sheets and tape them together:

Here's the two parts in colour: Part One Colour PDF | Part One Colour JPG | Part Two Colour PDF | Part Two Colour JPG

And here they are in greyscale: Part One Greyscale PDF | Part One Greyscale JPG | Part Two Greyscale PDF| Part Two Greyscale JPG

And here's the map of the ExCeL centre: Excel Map PDF | Excel Map JPG

Finally, here's a Button/Banner to embed and link to the map.
