Trident Ploughshare Update
Just five years ago Trident Ploughshares began its open, accountable and nonviolent campaign against Trident, Britain's weapon of mass destruction. Since then our activists have been involved in over 2000 arrests. High profile actions, like the disarmament of the research barge Maytime in 1999 by the Trident Three and the series of highly successful mass blockades at Faslane, have increased public awareness about the UK's nuclear weapons and promoted debate.Coulport News 11.08.2003

Today is the anniversary of the first nuclear bomb being dropped on the Japanese city Hiroshima, and in the Trident Ploughshares International Disarment Camp two actions took place in this context.

Interview and updates about Trident Ploughshares peace prisoners
Here is an interview with an activist campaigning to "Free Ulla". Ulla Roder disarmed a tornado jet in Scotland during the war against Iraq in a peace action. Ulla Roder, grandmother, is a member of the Trident Ploughshare campaign.

On the 17th of july, an anti-repression action took place at St.Leonards police station in solidarity with Simon, a protester who got arrested and charged with incitement for racial hatred due the modifications of the American flag he was carrying on an anti-war demonstration at the 22nd of march in Edinburgh. Interview with Mark Ballard,MSP, at an anti-war action 17.7.2003, Edinburgh
This interview was taken at the anti-war action yesterday, 17.7.2003 in Edinburgh at St.Leonards police station. Called by Mark Thomas, about 60 protesters came more or less spontaneously to the police station to protest against the criminal proceedings and the charges against Simon.
