Protesters decontaminate the UK's last remaining GM potato trial.
During the night of Friday 6th July, a group of activists converged on Britain's last remaining GM trial site just outside Cambridge. They scaled the security fences and destroyed the crop of genetically modified potatoes.

Two protesters were in court this morning having been arrested on Sunday during protests at the site of the UK's only GM trial - potatoes.

GM Potato Protesters in Court in Cambridge
Two people were arrested yesterday at the GM Potato Protest in between Histon and Girton. They will be appearing at Cambridge Magistrates Court, which is now at 43 Hauxton Road, Trumpington, at 9:30 tomorrow (Tuesday 3rd July) morning.

Sunday July 1st. Anti-GM campaigns take protest direct to test site in Girton near Cambridge. One protester is arrested scaling the fence erected to protect the GM potato crop and another is arrested later on for alleged criminal damage.

GM Victory! Hull down! One more pota't'go!
Following extensive local and national resistance, BASF (the company trialing the GM potatoes), announced last month that they would not be conducting a GM potato trial in Yorkshire this year!

Non GM Potatoes planted at Hedon test site
Protesters are planting non-GM potatoes in the field near Hull where BASF intend to trial their GM potato variety. About 100 protesters are spread across the large (several acre) field, with two mounted police and 2 foot police standing by watching - not even filming, for once.Update: 2 cops on off road motorcycles have entered the field.

This is widely being viewed as a test of public opinion and if we let these trials go ahead with little or no opposition, more GM trials, and eventually commercial growing will be here before we know it.
