Police attack UAF demonstration against EDL in Bolton

The British state’s response to the Unite Against Fascism (UAF) counter mobilisation to the English Defence League (EDL) event in Bolton on 20 March was a change in tactics from previous confrontations. The police used a clear strategy of attempting to criminalise the UAF demonstrators and leaders, by using ‘kettling’, snatch-squads and dogs to attack and arrest people. Read more >>

EDL Planning Deadly Race Riots

The media and the riot police in Bolton portrayed the so-called "English Defence League" as friendly, happy-go-lucky "treehuggers", but the ugly truth shone through later Saturday evening when a gang of chanting EDL thugs gathered in a pub on Oldham Road, Middleton, intent on violence. BNP Organisers Come Clean Over EDL Involvement

As British authorities are accused of turning a blind eye to fascist racial incitement and street violence, there is damning evidence BNP organisers are, as suspected, using the EDL to do the BNP's dirty work by plotting race riots in multicultural areas.

UPDATE: Peter Tierney’s court date moved – protest still on

Liverpool Antifascists have learned that, perhaps in a bid to deter protests, Peter Tierney’s trial for assault at the Crown Court has been moved from Monday march 15th to Wednesday March 17th. With the express aim of highlighting the violence used by even high-profile members of the British National Party, we will still be picketing this event. Read more >>

March 15th Demonstrate Against Peter Tierney

Merseyside BNP “super-activist” Peter Tierney faces trial on Monday March 15th. He is charged with assaulting an anti-fascist on St George’s Day, just one of many incidents in which members of Merseyside BNP have used intimidation and threats of violence against those who oppose them. Tierney is perhaps the most active member of Merseyside BNP and the most violent, and we want him to know that we won’t let that fact die quietly. Read more >>

U.S., French, & UK Imperialist Hands off Niger!

Photo: AP 10,000 Supporters of military coup demonstrate in Niamey, 20 Feb 2010

In Niger human rights organizations, trade unions, and opposition parties (including the Niger Party for Democracy and Socialism) are all supporting the coup. 10,000 people rallied in support on February 20th.

Meanwhile the US, France, UK, UN, and African Union all have been quick to condemn the coup.

Tandja did the bidding of U.S. imperialism. Meanwhile, according to the UN Development Program’s 2006 Human Development Index, Niger is the poorest country in the world. Sixty percent of the population lives on less than a dollar a day, life expectancy is only to 45-years old, and adult illiteracy is 71%.
