‘Dear Mrs Blair’ is a personal video letter to Cherie Blair, mother to mother from Rose Gentle. Rose’s son, Gordon, was killed on 28 June 2004 in Iraq. He joined the army at the age of 19, in a job centre in Glasgow, just six months before his death.

BAe blockaded in Edinburgh

Glasgow Anti War Action struck for the second day in a row yesterday when they blockaded BAe System's factory in Edinburgh. This is the facility at which they make components for cluster bombs. On Monday, the same network were involved in shutting down Weir Pumps for pillaging Iraq, and because of their connections with Halliburton.

The company who are a supplier to Halliburton are part of a new campaign of direct action with the aim of causing the company sufficient disruption and economic damage, that they stop supplying components to Halliburton.

Five go mad in Egypt - A Day in Cairo

I was part of a group of International Solidarity Movement activists who travelled to Egypt on Sunday to meet Egyptian activists preparing to take a convoy of food and medicine from Cairo to Rafah (Gaza). The activists of the Egyptian Popular Comittee in Solidartity with the Palestinian Uprising have taken 25 such convoys since the start of the intifada in an atmosphere of repression and corruption. While in Egypt activists tried to make links with broader social movements in Egypt.

"FALLUJAH - RESIST THE SLAUGHTER" protests in Scotland

U.S. forces launched a major offensive on Monday night 8th November to regain control over the Iraqi rebel-held city of Fallujah. As of the morning of Tuesday 9th November fierce fighting is taking place within Fallujah. Ground troops are meeting opposition, while US artillery and missile-firing helicopters are pounding city buildings. Many civilian deaths are expected. Meanwhile on Monday another Black Watch soldier was killed.

In response in Edinburgh red paint and anti war slogans were sprayed on the US consulate [report | update and picture]. 100-150 protested in Parliament Square, Edinburgh, while protesters blocked roads in London and demos were scheduled for Monday evening in at least 30 locations Britain-wide. Protests are being called for town and city centres across Scotland from 5pm on Tuesday 9th November. In Glasgow meet in George Square. In Edinburgh meet in Parliament Square, marching on the Scottish Parliament around 5.30pm. Anti war demos are being called for town and city centres across Scotland from 5pm on Tuesday 9th November.
