Anti-Trident Protest in Edinburgh looses direction but continues to sing along

In a slightly weird, but entertaining, "People and Parliament against Trident" protest over a thousand marched from the Scottish Parliament to Princes Street Gardens. Though it was unclear whom the lovingly hippy-esque, socialising parade addressed its opposition to, it was good fun and meaninglessly co-incided with the "We love the NHS" demonstration in London.

Nahr al-Bared Camp (Lebanon): 2 Short Films

The anarchist video collective "a-films" announces the release of two short films dealing with the situation of the Palestinian refugees who where forced out of the meanwhile totally destroyed Nahr al-Bared Refugee Camp in North Lebanon. After the fighting between the Lebanese army and Fatah al-Islam fighters had ended, the refugees still weren't allowed to return to the ruins of the camp, while the Lebanese army as well as civilians looted what was left of Nahr al-Bared.

Major factual innacuracies in BBC Report of Anti-Nuke action

The BBC, probably acting on deliberately inaccurate information provided by the Ministry of Defence, recently claimed that an Anti-Nuclear activist had to be pulled from the water around Coulport, the Royal Navy base where warheads for Trident nuclear missiles are stored. According to the activist converned, the story was quite different.

Yesterday John Reiger, a member of Peace and Freedom Party, was among ten war protestors that were arrested at the office of Congresswoman Doris Matsui in Sacramento California. The protestors were part of a nationwide movement of anti-war protestors that oppose the Iraq war and congressional support for the war.

The photograph submitted by Larkin, clearly showing that he is not in the road Anti-Trident activist Brian Larkin was today acquitted of breaching the peace during a nonviolent blockade of Faslane, home port for Britain's nuclear weapon submarines.

Faslane Activist Acquitted

An activist was acquitted today on a charge of Breach of the Peace arising from blockading Faslane in opposition to the deployment of and plans to upgrade Trident. Brian argued that the Crown had a particular obligation in this case to demonstrate the facts given that 950 people have been arrested at Faslane since 1st October, with most held overnight for up to 36 hours and then released with a letter from the Procurator Fiscal stating that no charges would be brought. The Fiscal is prosecuting in only 51 cases of the 950 arrests. Brian said that the overnight detention of more than 500 people without trial constitutes a denial of their civil liberties.

Two Pensioners Spend Two Hours Inside Nuclear Weapons Storage Base

Two pensioners this morning spent over two hours inside RNAD Coulport, where Britain's Trident nuclear warheads are stored. Joan Meredith, who will be 78 next week, and Irene Willis, 62, entered Coulport shortly after midnight and were only arrested at 0230 when they approached police on the main gate from the inside.
