Starbucks – Tax Vampires + Corporate Scroungers (graphics)

04-12-2012 17:38

Leading tax vampires and corporate scroungers STARBUCKS have agreed, in principle, to pay more tax, but then turned on their poorest employees to recoup any reduction in their profits. On the day that the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee branded their tax scams "immoral", Starbucks staff were ordered to sign employment terms which include "the removal of paid lunch breaks and paid sick leave for the first day of illness" and which leave increased salary entitlements "frozen"...

Very Good News for Radical Tax Protestors!

02-12-2012 13:17

Starbucks have effectively caved-in on the principle of corporate tax evasion, and say they're in the process of cutting a deal with HMRC to start contributing to the cost of the taxpayer-funded infrastructure and the health and education services that their business exploits. There's a long way to go yet, but this is very encouraging, INCREASE THE PRESSURE

A few thoughts on the matter of deficits: Do they matter or what?

21-11-2012 22:27

Everyone knows that almost all Western nations have been running trade deficits for decades know, and that it was once -famously- said that "deficits don't matter". This may sound strange, but I kind of agree:
It's not the 'deficits/debts' themselves that matter, rather than the 'ability to repay these debts in the future through future productivity" that actually matters.

NUS National Demo - #demo2012 - Be Street Wise - Tips for Protestors

20-11-2012 09:05

For significant numbers of younger people #demo2012 may be their first experience of a major protest, so here are some common-sense tips and strategies to help make the most of a hopefully cracking day out...

Take a hat and scarf... Film cop faces and ID numbers... Watch out on Westminster Bridge... Be street wise... look BEHIND you!

Autumn Budget Statement Demonstration

14-11-2012 10:19

George Osborne’s autumn budget statement will set out huge cuts for the next financial year, with an extra £10bn-£16bn to be lopped off the welfare budget expected to be the big headline. Austerity is failing but as the deficit begins to rise the government’s only answer is more cuts. We need alternative economic policies to solve this problem.
