UK's newest gas power station shut down and occupied

Early Monday morning around 30 activists shut down West Burton power station before climbing the chimneys to set up camp and occupy the flues in order to prevent it being switched on again. This action is to highlight the senselessness of a dash for gas in light of climate change and fuel poverty.

Starving disabled blockade London traffic

We’re digging through dumpsters just to stay alive, disabled demonstrators said this weekend in a dramatic blockade of London traffic.

Dozens of activists with Disabled People Against Cuts shut down mid-afternoon traffic in Marble Arch on Saturday, handcuffing themselves and their wheelchairs together to protest “deadly” attacks on state benefits.

unions cuts march and london anti-workfare actions - pics & report

despite very little publicity for yesterday's union-organised march in london, there was an impressive turn-out, with huge numbers still waiting to leave the embankment at the time the front of the march entered hyde park. as DPAC closed down park lane, and activists targetted oxford street workfare and tax avoidance stores, policing was sporadically violent, very high on surveillance, but with very few arrests.

March For A Future That Works

The TUC may have underestimated the size of their own march yesterday. 100,000? It took an hour and twenty-three minutes to pass Green Park, and I wasn't at the head of the march when I started timing. I reckon the whole procession was more than two miles long.
