Witness appeal for the DSEI action outside the royal lancaster hotel photographs, video, were you there?

Pumped up and unprovocked, the police hit first...
Pumped up and unprovocked, the police hit first...

On Thursday the 11th of September at aproximatly 8 pm in front of the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the police attacked, beat up and arrested a member of the Torino samba band that came along with Rhythms Of Resistance to support the anti-dsei protests. This was the most violent and unreasonable attack on a member of 'the samba band" we have ever witnessed. After spending two days in Charing Cross police station he has been charged with assault of three police officers and affray.

He could spend 5 years in prison for what was a peaceful protest outside DSEI's closing gala dinner, "... the highlight of Europe's biggest arms fair " . To protect the arms dealers from the rhythms of samba, officers violently pushed players and dancers first against police barriers and then against street railings, crushing demonstrators with heavy drums against them.

We URGENTLY need witnesses, photographs and video evidence.

Your help is important! not only if you where witness to the moment of the arrest but also if you could bear witness to the police moves, and the rest of the protest.

Please don't hesitate in contacting us on: 07708 791 434 and  sambaappeal@reallyfast.info

Many Thanks !

Witness needed for Freemasons Road 10/9/03

28.09.2003 22:55

I am in court on the 10th Nov. in Stratford for threatening a police officer with violence. On the wednesday Dsei demo, in the part of the protest that was hearded into the small park at the end of Freemasons road I saw two police literally throwing a adult male midget face first onto some gravel. My reaction was to follow the bruitalisers into the police line in oder to get their I.D. numbers. Unfortunately this has been construed by my arresting officer as violent behaviour. I was wearing a white CND t-shirt and a pink skirt-sort-of-thing.
If any one who saw either my arrest or the violence against the short guy in the park and would be prepared to stand witness in magistrates court for me could you please contact John on 07881 794 902 or e-mail me at  nimxgo@hotmail.com.
I would especially like to contact the guy who was thrown and find some independant video footage.
The sick irony of direct yet peaceful protesters being charged with violence for moving too slowly in the face of some henious police brutality like this could possibly be demonstated to the court.
