Friday May 21st, 7pm onwards. Caff. Good food and intoxicating liquor.

Sunday 23rd May, 12pm onwards. Use Your Loaf workday. All welcome to
come
and lend a hand doing up/repairing the building. The wearing of old
clothes
is well advised. You’ll get a free meal out of it!

Wednesday May 26th, 7.30pm. Writers and readers night. Come and listen
to
local (and not so local) authors reading from their work. If you want to
take part just come along with your prose or poems.

Thursday May 27th 8pm. South London Radical History Group meeting: The
launch of Neil Gordon-Orr’s new pamphlet 'Deptford Fun City’: a ramble
through the history and music of New Cross on Deptford'.
Deptford Fun City includes a cast of punks, pagans, revolting peasants,
gut
girls, slaves and slavers, sound systems, suffragettes, speedway riders,
sailors, dock strikers, deserters, metal bashers, may queens, pearly
kings,
ghosts, vampires, Chartists, bread rioters and anarchist bombers.
Neil will be reading some extracts and also playing some music mentioned
in
the text. Expect to hear a bit of Band of Holy Joy, Carter USM,
Alternative
TV, This Heat, Throbbing Gristle (well they did record a live album in
New
Cross), Jah Shaka, Test Department and some of the new wave of local
bands
such as Art Brut and The Violets.There will be a surprise free gift…
Admission is free or a donation.

Neil’s pamphlet is available for £2.50 (68 pages) from Morps Records, in
the
basement of Moonbow Jakes Cafe, New Cross Gate, from Use Your Loaf, or
by
post from Past Tense Publications, 56a Info Shop, 56a Crampton Street,
London SE17 3AE (cheques payable to N.Gordon-Orr).

APPEAL FOR COOKS: We always need people to volunteer to cook for
upcoming
Friday night cafes. If you are up for cooking or helping out please ring
the
hotline on 07984 588807.

Use Your Loaf is also available for YOUR projects. Whether you need a
space
for a meeting, discussion, for small scale benefit cafes or (acoustic
only)
musical events…The building is reasonably small, but the ground floor
fits
up to 50 people, more if you want separate spaces (upstairs). For a
small
donation towards running costs Use Your Loaf could be yours for the
day/night. Wheelchair access is very limited, unfortunately.
