Wednesday Free Cinema at the rampART

This coming Wednesday (11th August), the rampART free cinema will stick to the weeks theme of Liberation and Latin America. As usual, films start at 8pm and entry is free and this week there will also be food and drink...

Films screened will include:
* The Forth World War (Big Noise Films) 72mins
* School of the Americas
* Bolivarian Venezuela: People and Fight of the IV World War
+ various shorts and latin beats

The Fourth World War weaves together the images and voices of the war on the ground - from the front lines of struggles in Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Palestine, Korea, `the North' from Seattle to Genova, and the `War on Terror' in New York and Iraq.
The product of over two years of filming, The Fourth World War is a new kind of film for a new world. The intensity and immediacy of its images are beyond anything the mainstream media can shoot, the intimacy and passion of its stories are beyond anything it can feel. Narrated by Tony Award winner Suheir Hammad and Singer Michael Franti of Spearhead, it is a radical story of hope and human connection in the face of a war that shatters and divides.

"The Bolivarian Venezuela: People and Fight of the IV World War" is a new documentary which analyses Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution as part of the world movement against
capitalist globalization. The film follows the evolution of the popular movement from the "El Caracazo" revolt in Feb 1989 until the massive mobilisations that restored their elected government 48 hours after a US-supported military coup in April 2002. It was an incredibly powerful and moving film with constant commentary by people on the street about their feelings and support for what they see as their revolution and the fruits of their hard won shift from so-called representative democracy into participatory democracy.

The films will be shown in the rampART's occupied old school, 15-17 Rampart Street, which is also hosting the Latinamerican Liberation Exhibition and the Venezuelan Week of
Solidarity.
