Call to stop T-Mobile

Hackney residents are campaigning against a T-mobile phone mast that is being built on London Fields, close to a children's playground and paddling pool, people's homes, and Gayhurst primary school.

Contractors with bulldozers have tried twice to put up the mast. Residents who lives opposite, managed to turn them away. But they will be back!

Hackney Council's planning department rejected T-mobile's planning application, but then did not inform them within the required time (the "56 day loophole"). T- Mobile are insistant that they are going to exploit this legal loop hole and erect the mast even though Hackney council declined planning permission, and in the face of widespread protest from Wayman Court Residents, Gayhurs School, and the users of London Fields.

T-Mobile has arranged a meeting with Hackney council on Monday 13th Sept.

We need to make sure they also hear our voices.

1.00 - Lobby T-Mobile Hackney Town Hall Steps
4.00 - Demonstration Dorothy Hodgkin House (Reading Lane)

Make it colorful and noisy……

We also need people willing to take direct action when the diggers arrive.

elvin nonsense

sure you could wait till they put up the mast and then try to dismantle - the alarm and resultant police might hinder you, as might the sheer metalness of it, not to mention the fence. Have you ever seen one, pixie? It's all very well sitting at home and hoping 'the elves' come along and mess with it, but it ignores the fact that you'd need the community to sit back passively and let it be built first. Where's the empowerment in that?! Stopping it being built is not a demo, it's an action, and has a chance of suceeding. A criminal record is not such a big deal (when people in other places are tortured and killed). Hmmph.
