Vote RON campaign

soontobecollective | 10.03.2005 16:07 | Education | London | South Coast

a campaign was conducted in university of southampton to expose the farcical nature of student council elections.

The predominantly Southampton based soontobecollective stormed the student union election campaigns on the 7th and 8th of March. The collective claimed full responsability for the handing out of distruptive material and the displaying of unathorized material on the walls of the university. From their underground bunker the group made the following statment:

"we do not believe in student council elections, this ridiculous sharade is a mere illusion much like the illusion of freedom created by the consumer society. The victim is lead to believe that he/she has limitless opportunities in this vast ocean of consumption ultimately resulting in the reduction of expression to a mere brand name. Not only that but the slogans of candidates were just pathetic. something so uncool as this should not under any condition be allowed to be exhibited. the regulation of the university is illegitimate and we do not recognise it. our much more informative and funny posters were taken down pronto... why?? All the members of the collective are alive and well and planning their next attack on cultural imperialists. In the meantime: www.soontobecollective.org"
