G8 eco village request...Sound systems. thanks, but no thanks

Greetings, A birdie has flown in from the rural eco village 'hori-zone' hosted by Dissent! network et al at Stirling from 1/7/05 for the G8 meeting with a message for sound systems coming to Scotland.

It politely states that the site has all entertainment catered for. Any sound systems wanting to come should find their own accomadation for the site has all its requiremnts for entertainment sorted. Thanks

Whether Glasgow or Edinburgh has enough is unclear!!
Perhaps Party networks can sort it...

Sound Systems: (un)necessary evil?

Party & Protest

A quick phone call to Hori-Zone reveals that there is a *general* agreement that there should be no sound systems in the camp at all - in order to maintain a space that is welcoming to all and which does not turn into a drug-taking mayhem rave, but then again - what is wrong with a few tunes and a tribal dance?

So, if you are bringing a sound system, keep it low! If you bring it as part of a kitchen setup to entertain while cooking - or for sippin' tea and feeling fine in the evening - it should be alright ......... Keep in mind that you have freedom under responsibility and if you play loud music at night you are likeky to disturb people who want to sleep and get up in the morning and get on the case with some world-changing direct action ;)

Respect each other, I guess is the messsage here...... rock on!

too old ?

what do you mean by "too old ". people with kids can also take part, according to me, to an autonomous experience. I will be there to act against capitalism, to take part in a colective life project. I think there should be a place for people that want to dance listening to techno music. But don't impose it to everybody, you're not alone in the world. And try to imagine that some people do not like it ( personaly, I can't stand techno music, and I don't feel "old".
Anarchy means also solidarity and respect for the others, I doesn't mean " I do what i want and I fuck the others ".
I undestood there will be a place near the camp for free party.
