Where to find full details of the European Social Forum in Athens 2006

The European Social Forum (ESF) - Athens 2006.

Full details at (English version):
 http://www.fse-esf.org/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=17

What is the ESF? The ESF is a unique opportunity where social movements, trade unions, NGOs, refugees, peace and anti-imperialist groups, anti-racist movements, environmental movements, networks of the excluded and community campaigns from Europe and the world can come together to discuss how to achieve global social justice for all and debate ways of making ’another world possible’.

The European Social Forum (ESF) is an open space where civil society groups and movements opposed to neo-liberalism and a world dominated by capital or by any form of imperialism, but engaged in building a society centered on the human person, come together to pursue their thinking, to debate ideas democratically, to formulate proposals, to share their experiences freely and to network for effective action. This website is therefore an open space to facilitate the ESF process that was embodied in [Firenze,2002], [Paris,2003] and [London,2004] and will be in [Athens,2006].

Plenty of time to make sure you attend in 2006!

Blog Promotion

Neil could you please stop using the Indymedia Newswire to promote your blog

indy reader

intresting blog

24.07.2005 12:25

has articles from corporate watch (well horizontal) and the SWP (complete tossers) so its not dogmatic and narrow in its world view... for me it is interesting to her news of the ESF as was heavily involved in trying to make it work in the face of the dead left. So keep posting and keep being non dogmatic Neil.

Respect now are a vertical organization and I don’t have much time for it, but he doesn’t brake any editorial guidelines. So it would be good not to hound him off IMC otherwise we may become a small narrow ghetto…

To the second Indyreader - thank you very much , I sincerely appreciate your comments ( I spend some hours each day on my blog trying to make it as interesting, "open" and engaging as possible to all).

To the fist Indyready reader with message "Blog Promotion" I suggest you reread what Indymedia stands for and i quote:
"A network of individuals, independent and alternative media activists and organisations, offering grassroots, non-corporate, non-commercial coverage of important social and political issues."

My blog is not commercial - it is educational. Your word "promotion" is wrong, I would use the word "communicate". We should be proud there are people out there trying hard to counter the establishment media view on the world and we should all encourage them - let there be 10,000,000 alternative news blogs and let them all tell us on Indymedai what they have posted daily!!

You will see that my blog has articles from many , many sources and you too can send one if you want. I do not hide my name or politics - I am a member of RESPECT and was in the Labour Party for 13 years up until Feb 2004. My aim is to to help all those building a Socialist alternative to "New Labour" and fighting against neo-liberalism. Many of the articles on my site are written by people from many different backgrounds and political parties.

If you find it so hard to listen to Socialist comment and views what chance have we to change this world and to challange the estbalishment media and the three main parties in the UK - perhaps you find it more fun and easier to engage in sectarian biggering (I apologise if I am wrong) - it avoids having to do anything in the real world!

Indymeda gives us all a chance to air alternative views, comments and news and long may this be so - lets shout it from the roof tops and encourage the great debate from as many people as possible and let them say what they are publishing on their blogs. Or would you rather they read the Sun or Daily Mail??

All Quiet on the ESF Front...

03.09.2005 16:35

Does anyone know how things are actually going, re Athens 2005? There's been little/0 on the ESF lists for months now, so either you lot have started your own lists without me and there's a massive traffic going on that I know nothing about, or there's little/0 interest in the topic.

Much as I'd hate to think of myself as a political leper, I could quite understand it...

Video broadcasting from ESF Athens?

23.02.2006 13:28

Greetings all,

We are planning a small local ESF forum / events, and it would be really great to get something like video broadcasts from the ESF and ideally also from the autonomous spaces in Athens.

Does anyone know of anything like this?

Also. anything ESF related happening locally in London specifically?

Peace
Brent
