Music, art and politics in London on Saturday 1st October - film, talks, music, stalls, food, chai from 11:30am -11:30pm at Institute of Education Union (www.ioe.ac.uk) and a UCL lecture theatre. Tickets (donations): £8 and £5 (students).
Any funds raised (after event/speaker costs) will be spent on helping the campaign in India.
Medha is in the country for two days, after meeting the European Parliament, and is interested in meeting campaigners against world bank policies, and indian and environmental activists/campaigners (dams/water issues) - if you want to be part of those meetings e-mail us.

the true story of a family’s inspired stand against the Narmada dams.
Speakers on social and environmental justice and water rights:
Medha Patkar – founder of Save the Narmada Movement
Nick Hildyard – co-author of Social & Environmental Effects of Large Dams
Lyla Mehta – water rights specialist and campaigner from Sussex University
Followed by panel discussion and debate on future actions with members of Narmada UK campaign.
Food, chai, stalls, music (DJs, political hip hop, etc) and art – from 11:30 am.

The Narmada dams cost billions of dollars, and comprise a few THOUSAND individual dams causing displacement of hundreds of thousands of people, submerging their lands and taking away their livelihoods. The Narmada campaign also supports slumdwellers, tribal rights and other environmental campaigns in India.
