Don't dare to object to New Labour

ben | 29.09.2005 12:15 | Anti-militarism | Repression | London | South Coast

The days of dissent are limited it seems. No protests (or perhaps evening lobbying) allowed outside the House of Commons, and no dissent in the party conference...

Tony Blair has apologised to a Labour activist thrown out of the party's annual conference by stewards after shouting "nonsense" as the foreign secretary as Mr Straw told delegates: "We are in Iraq for one reason only - to help the elected Iraqi government build a secure, democratic and stable nation."

Steve Forrest, party chairman of the Erith and Thamesmead constituency was sitting next to Mr Wolfgang and was also thrown out after complaining about the outrageous incident.

To add insult to injury, 82 years old Mr Wolfgang who escaped Nazi Germany in 1937 and has been a Labour party member for 57 years foudn himself being stopped by Police under the Terrorism Act when he tried to re-enter.
