More4 News tonight will be covering the brutal beating of Haslar detainee following largest recorded immigration detention hunger strike and protests.

The hunger strikes and other protests were sparked by the April 8 No Borders demonstration and the treatment of detainees during the protest.

Inmates reported they were banned from exercise, visiting hours were cut and they were halted from witnessing or even hearing the demonstration.

Guards locked people in their rooms, used force against those who refused and locked people in solitary confinement, including Nigerian Pastor Michael Etim after he spoke to protestors via a mobile phone.

The news report will be followed with a live interview with Dr. Frank Arnold, a long term medical visitor in the UK detention centres.

He is also the doctor who will today has finally got into Colnbrook to examine the beaten detainee.

He has already accused of Colnbrook authories violating their own guidelines when he was refused entry into the detention centre because he was unable to take total control of the beaten man's medical assistance.

Arnold said this was impossible because he does not have the capailities to do so, because the authorities do not allow him to take the neccessary equipment in with him.

As a result the Colnbrook authorities refused him entry yesterday.

As of 1pm today, following a government official failing to attend an organised meeting, 50 detainees in one detention centre have returned on hunger strike.

Report to follow.

Video and telephone interviews to follow as soon as possible.
