Starbucks CEO in London Wed 6th Dec!

wobbly | 04.12.2006 10:30 | Workers' Movements | London

Starbucks is responsible for various attacks on people and the planet. in its most recent guise, it is picking on its workers who are fighting against the giant to unionise their workplaces with the IWW. the CEO of Starbucks is talking at the NASDAQ conference on Wednesday, and London IWW is calling for a demo against his union-busting ways!

In the last year, Starbucks has sacked five baristas who 'just happen' to be key union organisers in New York for having the incredible cheek to dare to demand better pay, hours and working conditions for Starbucks workers.

Joseph Agins fired from Starbucks at 2nd ave and 9th, December 12th 2005

Charles Fostrom fired from Starbucks at 57th and Lexington, July 11th 2006

Evan Winterscheidt fired from Starbucks at 14th and 6th ave, July 18th 2006

Daniel Gross fired from Starbucks at 36th and Madison, August 5th 2006

Isis Saenz fired from Starbucks at 57th and Lexington, November 1st 2006

see also www.starbucksunion.org for more info, and visit www.baristasunited.org.uk, the UK equivalent of the starbucks campaign.

in solidarity with their illegal sackings and a whole host of other anti-union tactics used against the Starbucks workers, London IWW branch calls out to people to descend upon the NASDAQ conference to demonstrate against this anti-union and anti-worker activity.
