Activists Target Labour Constituency Offices

In protest at the Labour Party's responsibility fort the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the activists target constituency offices in London.

Last night on the eve of the fourth anniversary of the war in Iraq activists enraged at the Labour government’s policies in Iraq and Afghanistan targeted Labour Party offices in London.

Their aim was to highlight the complicity of the Labour Party and it’s MPs in the decision to go to war in Iraq and the ongoing occupation of both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Painting on the offices read: “Your Party. War Party” In reference to the Labour Party’s collusion in the ongoing ‘War on Terror’.

Not all constituencies were targeted as the Labour Party has closed many local constituency offices, centralising them in Westminster in yet another example of Labour’s drift away from the electorate. The closure of many constituency offices is stark evidence of the wider malaise of accountability that has been a central tenet of the Labour administration. With the introduction of the SOCPA zone around Parliament a serious hurdle to political protest the closure of constituency offices puts Labour MPs yet further from the people that elected them.
