Police ignore SOCPA music.

Doug. | 28.04.2007 05:06 | SOCPA | London

For several months now police have been threatening Critical Mass riders with arrest if they dare to play their bicycle sounds systems in the SOCPA zone around Parliament Square.

Imagine my astonishment when I heard the sound of music approaching on the South Side of Parliament Square during the Critical Mass 13th anniversary ride last night. It turned out to be a white van which the cycle police completely ignored as it went past them. See the video, which has been edited down to preserve the van's anonymity.

This confirms my previous suspicion that the police are using Section 137 of the SOCPA legislation to deliberately harass CM riders while turning a deaf ear to loudspeakers playing in cars and vans.
