London Indymedia

Brilliantly planned and executed.

A personal impression of the Climate Camp.

Using a model which may have evolved in response to State oppression during the days of Reclaim the Streets and Mayday events and meetings, the Climate Camp managed to attract considerable corporate media attention while avoiding many police counter measures.

The model is to set up a highly public event which attracts the maximum of police repression and media attention while secretly planning and executing 'off-site' demonstrations involving just a few people, in all of this the Climate Camp has been hugely successful.

While not being particularly attracted to camping in a relatively small, overpopulated and stinking area in bad weather, surrounded by police with cameras and stop and searches and their CCTV and FIT, my heart goes out to those who physically laboured during police imposed adversity to set it up so well and ingeniously. They are a highly commendable and brave lot who make my humble efforts seem vanishingly insignificant. What more can I say?

Top marks for organisation............. they have wrong footed the plod on virtually every front. Hopefully today will force the cops to act well over the top and they will be made to look every bit the bunch of political lackeys they have become.

Well done to the organisers.

Well done to the Campers

Well done to the small autonomous (?! :-) )groups who have left the plod wondering what is going to happen next.

Well done to the clowns.

Well done to the lot of ya!
