Total offices were again targeted this morning. The protest was the third this week, and the start of weekly picket seeking to put pressure on Total to immediately divest from Burma. 500 leaflets were handed out to those entering the building and passers by, banners reading 'TOTALitarian OIL: Out of Burma Now' and 'Free Burma' were unfurled, as protestors staged a symbolic die-in. Although there was no police presence at the beginning of the demonstration, the loudspeaker and numbers seem to have concerned the management of the building, as police rolled up after 20mins, keeping a low profile untill demonstrators began to chalk, drawing around dead bodies and writing 'Total out of Burma Now' and 'Funders of the brutual regime this way'. There were no arrests, despite threats to arrest those writing in chalk for criminal damage. Not deterred by the rain, the protest ended as planned at 10:30.

These actions form part of a wider campaign against and boycott of Total, which has seen recent pickets at petrol stations in Manchester, Oxford and Cardiff, and similar actions in France and Holland.

Show your support for the struggle of the Burmese people and come along next Wednesday, target your local petrol station, write to Total...
