Invitation For Workshop Offers At the Camp For Climate Action 2008

happy camper | 15.05.2008 23:11 | Climate Camp 2008 | Climate Chaos | Ecology | Education | London | South Coast

The Camp for Climate Action is back. And we are planning a jam packed
programme of workshops. If this new movement for climate action has a
chance of winning, we are going to need knowledge, skills and the space to
forge a future where people and the environment come before profit.

From expert speakers, to open debates, to practical skill shares there
will be something for everyone.

ABOUT THE CAMP:

This summer the Camp for Climate Action will pitch its tents outside
Kingsnorth coal-fired power station in Kent for a week of education,
sustainable living and direct action. Everyone is invited to the camp,
which is now part of an international movement, with eight climate camps
on four continents planned for this summer. Together, we will show that
the blind pursuit of economic growth at any cost is simply insane, and is
to blame for the CO2 emissions and ecosystem destruction that are causing
catastrophic climate change. For more information about all the events
planned, and how you can help publicise the camp go to
 http://www.climatecamp.org.uk

If you would like to offer to run a workshop relevant to climate change
campaigning and sustainable living at this year's climate camp please go
to the workshops page:
 http://www.climatecamp.org.uk/workshopsoffer.php
and follow the instructions. The deadline for workshop submissions
is 18th May at the latest.

Science?

How about a workshop on the lack of scientific consensus on 'global warming'? How about a workshop on the IPCC as a political and not a scientific body? How about a workshop on destroying development of the poor countries in the world in the guise of fighting climate change?

how about you stick your head in the sand, or somewhere else no light shines?

You're talking bullshit, but I don't think you'll have the balls and evidence to back up what you're saying enough to actually offer a workshop there on what you are talking about. If you do, offer away to the workshops group, NOT posting comments on the internet..!

Just having a quick look at your blog, I don't think you'll be doing that with the language you use, and the so-called Manhattan declaration of so-called scientists, which has already been debunked as politically-motivated unscientific rubbish. If I'm right that you're a hopeless case, I hope you die along with the rest of us young enough to be there when it all turns to shit 'cos of attitudes like yours.

Glad to see you've got a handle on the science there. For a minute I thought you were going to launch into a load of pointless invective which completely misses the point...

Black is white, war is peace

How about a workshop on attempts to rebrand reactionary ideas on race as progressive; and a workshop on rebranding scientific illiteracy as "contrarianism"?

Can't think of anyone who'd be qualified to facilitate those....

What makes you think I'm illiterate when it comes to science? I've got the qualifications and I work in technology. I also know one end of a scientific paper from another. I started off as a believer in man-made global warming. My fall from grace started when I decided that it was time I became more acquainted with the underlying science. If you do have the scientific nous I would urge you to do the same...

As for my views on race, as someone who's suffered from being 'Paki-bashed' in the past, it never fails to amaze me how easily people want to dismiss me as a white racist...

Maybe I'm missing something?

The original post was a call out for workshops, but it seems to have been hijacked by someone who claims all kinds of wrongness, without stating any actual evidence. Does this mean the person with the negative views about Climate Camp won't be running workshops to prove their point? I'd kind of like them to, as I get fed up of pointing out the school kid errors ("carbon dioxide is a tiny part of the atmosphere so it can't make the climate change" or "climate change makes atmospheric CO2 increase" for example) of people who never show up to have a rational debate but snipe pathetically from the sidelines.
