what exactly were these MPs doing at climate camp? photo ops a shame

22.08.2008 09:33

The photo ops of Bob Marshall Andrews and Colin Challen are enough to make any environmental and eco activist feel a bit sick.

First lets look at the right wing nutter that is Colin Challen and how he voted on key issues since 2001

Voted strongly for introducing ID cards. votes, speeches
Voted very strongly for introducing foundation hospitals. votes, speeches
Voted strongly for introducing student top-up fees. votes, speeches
Voted very strongly for Labour's anti-terrorism laws. votes, speeches
Voted a mixture of for and against the Iraq war. votes, speeches
Voted very strongly against an investigation into the Iraq war. votes, speeches (part of the genocide)
Voted a mixture of for and against replacing Trident. votes, speeches

Bob Marshall Andrews has proved to be the same false prophet as George Galloway. Andrews is closer to Brown rather than Blair, so what exactly is the difference Mr Andrews?

These photo opportunities probably would destroy the souls of real people who every day try to do the best for their communities. Terminating first past the post and postal voting for these parties who offer no difference would end the trauma of voting and give people a real opportunity to get these people out. Apparently Bob Marshall Andrews was against the Dome but he is supportive of an even bigger Dome, Crossrail which costs £16bn have you read the posts on what harm an ill-disguised rail project designed to further development opportunities will be doing to communities in London. Maybe because it is supported by friends such as Douglas Alexander, brother of Wendy Alexander and his beloved Gordon Brown. Apparently this idiot Brown has good money to throw at failing banks and the City, which is apparently so rich it needs poor taxpayers to fund it. Brown does not have good money to throw at schools and hospitals, these are handed to private corporations so they can get more taxpayers money.

Please do not put these posts up believing that ordinary people want to be aligned to these people, most people hate MPs and they have good reason. All of these parties are close to big business. All of them traitors to ordinary people, they deserve the contempt they will soon receive.

MPs - Not my decision

22.08.2008 10:58

climateout,

I understand your concerns, but I was merely documenting something which happened at the camp. I didn't invite any MPs myself and from what I gather any of the MPs who visited were there because they either were the local MP (Bob Marshall-Andrews), or had an interest in what was going on (Caroline Lucas, Norman Baker, Colin Challen).

Please be assured that by uploading a photo of an MP I am not making any personal statement about my views on them or the role of MPs in general. I certainly didn't "put these posts up believing that ordinary people want to be aligned to these people".

If you want to express a concern about the fact that any of these people were allowed into the camp then I guess that should be directed at the media and liason working groups.

Fine let's go round waving tree branches

telling everyone to wear a hair shirt, we won't have any politicians who we have any disagreement with, and then let's see if we can get 2 million to march against Kingsnorth like they did against the war, like that even made any difference We might just get to 2m in 2,000 years After all the numbers are growing gradually, a bit like the rate of growth of micro renewables in the UK you might say.

yeah right

Uk politicians are irrelevant - yeah right's idea is talk to them.. tired advice

23.08.2008 10:00

yeah right, your arguments and advice is tired and probably because you are linked to the corporate machine. You are like the Shell executive who tells us he cares about his family while he destroys other families. Talking to people who do wrong is not an answer... these people forfeit the right to this by doing wrong. if laws apply to ordinary people then they should apply to UK scum politicians but we have evidence they do not.

We have heard your tired arguments before

Firstly there was people who told do not object to the wrong policies of big corporations because we have been investing your pensions. Then guess what, people woke up one day to find out they did not have pensions anymore and these companies had been doing lots of evil things all over the world.

Greenpeace does not want to upset the UK politicians as otherwise they can't get to talk to them (sounds a bit like you) - so what have they achieved? Support for Genetically Modified food is back on the agenda for the oxymoron that is the environmental minister Phil Woolas who sees GM as the problem to food shortages without empirical evidence that it does not harm human health and the environment. Thankfully, he cannot do this because the EU did a great thing and adopted the precautionary principle. We also have environmental destruction, carbon trading, nuclear power, wars for resources etc etc

British politicians are the scum of the earth - we have the greatest disparity of wealth, a first world country with substantial numbers of homeless people, the NHS has been sold off and gone from being the most respected institution to the world's bastard case because it is in the hands of financiers and UK politicians, children in schools are taught by companies to enter into the world of slavedom where they will be told what they need to know, learn brand names so they know what to buy and to finally complete the cycle they can produce and sell the shit to themselves and other people too.

Talk to the politicians, a Nigerian activist said a truth, she said if I ever become a politician, you know I am not on anyone's side anymore, only my own self-interest, so you talk away as it sounds like you are one of them. So you go and talk to yourselves, your time with the people is over... adios

correction yeah right
